More About the Author

Marissa Moss has been telling stories and drawing pictures to go with them for as long as she can remember. She sent her first book to publishers when she was nine, but it wasn't very good and it never got published. She didn't try again until she was a grown-up, but since then she hasn't stopped.

The idea for the first Amelia's Notebook came from the notebook Moss kept when she was a kid. Amelia is a lot like her and the things that happen to Amelia really happened to Marissa (mostly).

Along with Amelia, Moss has created many characters and is especially drawn to history. Historical books allows her to imagine what it's like to be alive in a different place at a completely different time. And then there are the Max Disaster books which allow her to play with scientific experiments, inventions, and comic strips.

This book was really good. This book is really great because it makes you feel like a kid wrote the book instead of an author. It was so good that I read it in one day because I could not put it down.It was great and I can't wait to read more Amelia books!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's All-New and Improved, February 2, 2007
A Kid's Review
She stared with both eyes on the "popular crowd". The main character of the book The All-New Amelia by Marissa Moss usually always does wish she was one the "popular" kids. The jealous, unsatisfied young girl named Amelia had always wanted to be a part of the "popular crowd".

This young girl spends her life with her journal close to her side. Sometimes you will find warm thoughts written in there. Other times you will find she will write with a sour attitude. This journal/ book takes place at Amelia's House and her school called Pioneer Elementary in present day. Some issues Amelia faces are simple.

In the story Amelia is unsatisfied with her looks and personality. While she wants to be more attractive and a nice person. The next issue in the book is between Amelia and another character named Carly. This issue was that Carly yelled at Amelia and told her off. While Amelia thought it was not appropriate.

To find out what happens to Amelia and Carly's friendship, I recommend reading the book/journal The All-New Amelia by Marissa Moss.

3.0 out of 5 stars Yawn: Unlike the other books, once was enough, December 29, 1999
This Amelia journal, for the faithful follower, feels hacked out. It doesn't have the same verve or interesting characters that usually bounce off the pages. These books are so great to look at but the theme this time is how our usually strong Amelia tries to change her look to be popular, risking friends in the process. The book lacked its usual spunk. Hopefully Amelia will bounce back and launch into adolescence a little more like her old self.
