I am recommending all of Season 19 not just this one episode but this show is not available on DVD so you will have to watch it online. I watched it online on my macbook and it was fine that way. I was able to buy the whole season on itunes. I watched it during the same season that it was playing on tv (last year).

Ok, let me admit that I miss Jerry Orbach as one of the detectives, Lenny. He was terrific and the reason he is no longer on the show is that he died. I must say that this show did a good job on hiring two actors for this series who breathed new life into it. These are Jeremy Sisto, who played Billy on SIX FEET UNDER, and Linus Roache, who is a terrific feature film actor from Britain. I've loved Roache in every movie I've seen him so was floored when he accepted a role in a tv series. Roache plays the role that Sam Waterston used to play, as the prosecutor who tries the cases. He is as passionate as Waterson was about law and justice. Waterston has now been bumped upstairs to the top job, which he barely holds onto because he isn't very good at playing politics. Sisto replaces Orbach as the police detective. There are other replacements but they are not nearly as strong. It is these two who have really given this series a new lease on life. Otherwise, the formula remains the same. You start with a crime, then the detectives investigate it, then the prosecutors try it. At the end you may or many not end up with a conviction. This formula has not changed in 19 years. Without this new life breathed into the series, I might be about to give up on it. However, these two actors kept me watching season 19. Definitely worth a look.

Season 19 is the next-to-last season of a stellar series. The partnered detectives have gone through many cast changes, but the current pair, Jeremy Sisto and Anthony Andrews, is a very good one. They don't have the charisma of Jerry Ohrbach or the cynical worldviews of the original George Dzundza, Chris Noth and Paul Sorvino, but they are a pleasure to watch. Sam Waterston is no longer the fire-eating prosecutor but the Manhattan D.A., so his role is less empathic and more political, as he spends much of the season campaigning for re-election. There aren't as many "ripped from the headlines" stories except for a spin on Bernie Madoff. As always, technology and special effects are minimized while the emphasis is placed on talented acting. There are no bad or mediocre episodes, and some are particularly vivid, like one featuring a bipolar man who dominates the screen. Perhaps the only flaw is that Linus Roache, the main prosecutor, goes over the line too often. Sam Waterston may have portrayed a hot-headed prosecutor for years, but Roache fills that slot as treading a line between upholding the law and bending it to breaking point. Alana de Garza plays a much lesser role as his assistant than her predecessors and is more striking for her looks than her personality, but she is still a competent addition to the ensemble. This is a satisfying series at an excellent price of $14.99 for 22 episodes. You can't go wrong with it!

If there only one show to watch law and order is my show. I love how law work for us and sometime against us but Jack Mcoy and rest of the team give it there all.

Really like the newest episodes with Jeremy Sisto and Alana de la Garza. Wish they were still making them! Always enjoy watching the old episodes too.
