4.0 out of 5 stars Good rock. Deserve to get known better, November 17, 2007
This review is from: All Night Long (Audio CD)
So you recognize a bit of ACDC in it? So what? (they're from Australia too) It's just good straightforward, well-played rock. And defitinitely not a copy. You might hear other influences in it as well (Status Quo? perhaps even Queen?). You can hear they are having fun in making this music; join them in the fun! Very much recommendable

The second album from the new Thunder From Down Under has been a long time coming, but it's been no disappointment. The album is apparently produced by one of the members of Tool, I dunno which on, I don't like Tool. The band has really been shaped up here compared to their self-titled debut album. Royce's voice is really sticking out now and sounding better then ever. Musically there about the same as the last album, but that's just to say its fun ol' hard rock n roll! Fans of AC/DC, Aerosmith, Stones, Rose Tattoo, Guns N Roses should really enjoy this band inspired by such artists.

There isn't that sh**y punk voice sound to them that every other band seems to try to be, there is no sex pistol type of singing here. And it's a good thing, cause I was afraid they where gonnah go with that judging by there last album, but they have come into there own and I feel like telling the manager at all the music stores to take this band OUT of the Alternative or New Age sections of the store and put them into Hard Rock where they belong.

Some tracks really stand out above the rest, but unlike the first album, none of these songs sound like fillers. They all rock, they all sound good, there is a Rose Tattoo's Angry Anderson kind of sound the lyrics of Born To Run. All Night Long sounds inspired by Aerosmith's Sweet Emotion with the vocals of Kevin Dubrow (Quiet Riot) there is a sound like Mick Jagger singing on Too Much and of coarse AC/DC's influence shines through on Dog House & Shame On You which I think is the best song on the whole album.

The only thing I don't like about this album is it only runs just over 36 minutes, they could've fit a hell of a lot more onto it.

Every song rocks, great album, cant wait for a 3rd album!

#Limited Edition Bonus CD#

There is a limited edition of this album released in Australia that comes with a bonus DVD featuring live performances of...

- Shame On You

- Shake It

- Nasty

- I Thank You

- Born To Run

- Too Much

- Doghouse Blues

Born to run is also featured as a video clip. They are playing live, but they are not playing to an audience. It's kind of a band rehearsal really. It's OK for the few bucks extra it costs to get the limited edition. But it doesn't capture to the live performance of the Casanovas playing to a live crowed. *** 3 stars to the DVD.
