Stay with the studio recordings,

I like Robbie's material but the real test of a live album is this: Do I play it on a regular basis? For example, I listen to the Band's "Rock of Ages" alot but not this CD. Good but not great best describes this CD.

Vocals Excel!,

This live album captures two evenings of music recorded in a studio (not ballroom as indicated by other reviewer) in front of a small audience. Like other good live albums, it conveys the feeling from those two nights well. I was there, and while I enjoyed the performances, the album somehow feels even better. In a decade of fabricated bands with computerized instruments and computerized recording sessions, it's refreshing to hear music which has escaped the cookie cutter. Tony Levin's (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, etc.) bass booms through on "Real World." John Hall helps on a couple other tunes. And other long-time collaborators play flawlessly. But the highlight is Robbie's voice. He comes through as strong and distinctive as ever.

The Brooklyn Soul Man strikes again. Robbie and company recorded live bringing back memories of street corner singing and NYC Rock n Soul . Get it if just for "Brooklyn Girls"
Why doesn't Rhino or Sundazed get Robbie's whole catalog together? Long over looked Dupree is in "the house". Rock on,Brother!

Worst "Live" recording I've ever bought!,

This review is from: All Night Long (Audio CD)
I bought this CD for one song only, "Steal Away". I knew it was going to be "live", but this isn't even close to the radio version. Try more like a "muzik, lounge" sound. It was recorded in a ballroom. Then, the only other song I recognized was "Hot Rod Hearts", again, done the Vegas lounge style. I wish I could get my $$ back. Why didn't he just put out the CD using the regular recordings? He was never a big star to begin with. I wrote this review just to warn people that it isn't like most "live" recordings. I was very dissapointed, and I still don't have a decent recording of "Steal Away"!
