4.0 out of 5 stars All that is Gay and Yaoi
In all my years of being a Yaoi fan, I have never encountered something like 'A.N.A.L' (aka 'All Nippon Airline'). When I read regular Yaoi I'm often drawn into a story of two people. When I read All Nippon Airline, I am taken back to the days of reading short comic strips of Archie and Jughead. There isn't one straight through story in the entire book, it jumps around...

3.0 out of 5 stars "Wouldn't you, too, like to board a flight today?"

Don't buy this manga thinking it's full of yaoi love stories... because it is not. This is instead a collection of vignettes - from one to 15 pages long - that milk all that can be milked out of a premise such as an airline company that goes by the acronym ANAL, and where the staff is 100% male and - of course! - gay. This review is from: All Nippon Airline: Paradise 30000 Feet (Yaoi) (Paperback)

- gay. There is the director, an unbelievably stamina-filled, goal-oriented man, who personally interviews every applicant, and the `Four kings' who all have their own distinctive characteristic (my personal favourite was Aoyagi, the miracle-voiced steward, tee-hee!) as well as a host of other stewards, passengers and pilots...!

This manga doesn't take itself seriously at all. It's gleefully ridiculous and 4 times out 5, it works (all those `Ooooooh!' coming out of love hotels! Precious!) I had fun while reading, and if you enjoy Miki Araya's or Shushushu Sakurai's mangas, you'll like ANAL! Only the art is a bit of a let down; except for the airplanes, almost no work was put into the backgrounds, and the characters are not that well-drawn. So be warned, this is no sexy piece of work, but rather a funny one. Enjoy! XD

4.0 out of 5 stars All that is Gay and Yaoi, February 17, 2009
This review is from: All Nippon Airline: Paradise 30000 Feet (Yaoi) (Paperback)
In all my years of being a Yaoi fan, I have never encountered something like 'A.N.A.L' (aka 'All Nippon Airline'). When I read regular Yaoi I'm often drawn into a story of two people. When I read All Nippon Airline, I am taken back to the days of reading short comic strips of Archie and Jughead. There isn't one straight through story in the entire book, it jumps around like a bunny rabbit on steroids. Luckily, even though it's not really a full on Yaoi story, it is one of the funniest things I've ever read!

The stories center around the All Nippon Air-lines, known as A.N.A.L to other people not only because of it's name but also because it is an all gay airline! There isn't a woman to be found except for maybe as a passenger or two. There are a few notable characters that appear more frequently then others. The first is the Director, a man who isn't afraid to sleep with any man to establish his goal (not even the not so attractive Civil Aviation Bureau Chief). Then there is the lovely Steward who has a strange obsession...

He really likes men with bald heads!

As anyone can see A.N.A.L is not your normal airline, it actually has the pension for turning men gay! Not everyone but a great number of them. But although the stories are great, if you are looking for fantastic art I wouldn't look here. Most of the artwork is meant to be comical and although you will get your fill of handsome men (and a bit of sex), don't expect anything too 'perfect'.

All and all, if you are a Yaoi collector, or are interested in possibly something adult gay humor related. I suggest that you put this one into your collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty men on a plane? Take me along!, August 27, 2008

Though this book had some better artwork then some I've seen, A.N.A.L. is not exactly a yaoi book for everyone. If you're looking at this book thinking it's full of yummy scenes, pause! It doesn't.. really. Only hints and 'behind closed doors' scenes.

The stories are overall funny and have some interesting characters (like a man with a 'miracle voice' that can make anyone ejaculate just by speaking). Though the humor doesn't make it truly worth jumping on and buying. I highly suggest you borrow it from a friend before committing to purchase it. I have to give the book one thing: it makes me really want an airline like this to open up!
