5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sophomore Effort!
I've listened to clips from the first Subways album and wasn't impressed for a number of reasons; principally, because it seemed rushed and inconsistent. No offense intended, it just reminded me of a less-mature effort.

On the other hand, I've no such issue with the "All or Nothing" album. Five Stars out of Five Stars! The cohesiveness is evident in the...

2.0 out of 5 stars What happened?
This is not the same band that did "Young For Eternity", and that's a bad thing. I had high expectations for this album and was let down. The fire that The Subways had on the earlier release is gone, with this record sounding like a random late 90's post grunge pop-rock release that could have been recorded by anybody. "Young For Eternity" makes me raise my fist in the...

The cohesiveness is evident in the abundant hooks, harmonies, rhythms, and lyrics. The musicianship in general, and guitar work in particular, are seamless and near-flawless! Standout tunes include Shake, Alright, Kalifornia, All or Nothing, Strawberry Blonde, and I Won't Let You Down.

This album rocks with a punk edge, and it's musical twists and turns are unexpected, pleasant surprises. I love the way these three people feed off each other's energies. And it's FUN to dance to! Well Done, kids!

This is not the same band that did "Young For Eternity", and that's a bad thing. I had high expectations for this album and was let down. The fire that The Subways had on the earlier release is gone, with this record sounding like a random late 90's post grunge pop-rock release that could have been recorded by anybody. "Young For Eternity" makes me raise my fist in the air and shout along, where "All or Nothing" makes me reach for a different CD to load.

Another complaint I have is with the recording. Sonically, this record embodies all the bad trends that have been happening in music in the past 10-15 years. Every instrument sounds like it's trying to be louder than every other one, contributing to a relentless mono-dynamic that wears thin quickly. The nasal, piercing guitar sound is identifiable only as noise, with no recognizable melodic or rhythmic content. Couple this with the low-mixed, sibilant vocals and the record becomes very hard to listen to straight through. The word "overproduced" also comes to mind, with power pop tricks not present before that feel like they didn't originate with the band, but rather from an outside source. I hope they can rediscover what made them brilliant in the past and recapture it for the next recording.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sophomore Album, August 11, 2009
This review is from: All or Nothing (Audio CD)
This album was amazing.. Young for Eternity was a good debut album letting the world know what they were capable of.. This sophomore album All or Nothing pretty much blew all of those expectations away.. Every song is filled with a good rock feeling that you can listen to over and over again.. The album simply put.. rocked.. buy this album.. you won't regret it...

4.0 out of 5 stars The Subways ...where have I been?, December 20, 2009

If you like straight ahead rock n roll with an interesting edge, buy The Subways CD
"All or Nothing". Check out these cuts, "Girls and Boys", "Shake! Shake!" and "Strawberry Blonde"! In my opinion these are great tunes especially the mellow but slow moving effort "Strawberry Blonde". Actually I love the entire Cd. You be the Judge!

1.0 out of 5 stars Who are these people? They are not The Subways!, December 6, 2008
This review is from: All or Nothing (Audio CD)
This is a Hollywood, sell-out version of the band. They had such raw talent and so much potential for becoming even better until they ruined themselves with this terrible album. This music sounds just like all the other factory, mass-produced, cookie cutter trash music. I am hugely disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars dissapointment, August 6, 2008
This review is from: All or Nothing (Audio CD)
after having been blown away by the young for eternity I could not wait to hear Subways' new album. what a dissapointment! i just did not find a single track I would enjoy as much as I enjoyed the simple beuaty of Rock'n Roll Queen or, more so, With You, song I totally fell in love with. i don't know what are the reasons for that, it just did not live up to my expectations and it's a shame
