My 2 1/2 year old daughter loves this book. It's very simple and a quick read, but what really makes are the illustrations which are detailed and create a "warm and cozy" feel for the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars LIke stone soup, apple pie can make friends, May 14, 2008
By
Grandma Cat's apple pie has one piece left over, which the mice nibble on and leave a few crumbs for the ants. If you take an apple pie (or MAKE an apple pie) be sure to cut it so there will be one piece left. And then divide that piece into pieces for the "mice" and be sure to save some crumbs for the "ants" in your group. THere's good math to be made out of pie, and you could make this into a good fractions lesson (what is a sixth of a sixth?) or just a fun way to do a measurement lesson. There's always time to start "cooking up reading."

This review is from: All for Pie, Pie for All (Paperback)
My boy was 22 mos when I bought this book. We bought it in the Fall to celebrate that season. The pictures are not as stark and vibrant as most books for this age group, and they took some getting used to for my boy.

Now, after numerous readings of this book, it has become absolutely one of his favoritest books. He asks for it by saying "yes yes yes yes yes!" which is a line repeated in the book. When you read the book, I recommend adjusting your voice to make a difference between the cat/mouse/ant voices because that seems to be a distinction that delights the child.

A huge favorite!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice read-aloud for preschoolers, especially for Fall, November 9, 2010
This review is from: All for Pie, Pie for All (Paperback)
"All for Pie, Pie for All" fits in nicely with fall themes of apples (since the pie in the story is an apple pie) and Thanksgiving baking/cooking. It's a fun read-aloud with lots of repetitive, chant-like portions for children to join in on, which helps them to stay tuned in and engaged. The illustrations are charming and fun. Kids really like this book.
