5.0 out of 5 stars even old guys like it!!!
Been listening to music ever since Jimmy Hendrix was alive and this guy is one of the best singer songwriters I have heard. The message in his music is very powerful! My first CD was Yell Fire, after that I bought everything he has put out - truely a very gifted artist that appeals to all ages (I'm pushing 60).

2.0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as previous Franti/Spearhead releases...
I've been into Mike Franti and Spearhead since hearing Disposable Heroes of the Hiphoprisy years back. The releases of Home and Stay Human are amazing pieces of work along with the Disposable album I had just mentioned.

This album is way too mellow, tons of reggae and catchy tunes. Doesn't seem to have much oomph or substance to it. This is very different...

5.0 out of 5 stars Spearhead's BEST Album by far!, September 11, 2008
This review is from: All Rebel Rockers (Audio CD)
Michael Franti and Spearhead have outdone them selves with this album produced in Jamaica! Rockin fun songs full of love and anger about injustice and a message of peace that sound awesome!!!

This album is worth buying! I love almost all the songs which is rare with any album or band! I don't listen to much reggae, this is so much more than that. You can even hear even some Eminem influence in the song Future.

If you like Spearhead or Michael Franti at all, you should definitely pick this one up... you will be impressed!!!

If only radio would play it, instead of the JUnK music thats empty and lame! All Rebel Rockers is the best CD I have bought since Rage Against the Machine debuted!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for all Spearhead fans, September 18, 2008

I can appreciate that this may not be his best recording. Personally I like "Stay Human" and "Yell Fire" and I had a hard time imagining how he was going to top or follow "Yell Fire". A lot of the same influences are on this recording - almost like it picks up where that left off. Still - there is enough great music on this to make it worthwhile - and every time I listen to it I find something new to appreciate. Michael Franti is the modern day revolutionary song writer of our time - just like the Clash were in the 80's. I think his message is beautiful and thought provoking. This is worth buying for "Nobody Right, Nobody Wrong" alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Repeat listening guaranteed, March 25, 2009

Michael Franti has been captivatingly cerebral since his stint with the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. Nothing I can say about All Rebel Rockers is more important than the music on it. This is energetic enough for the dancehall, and yet it's also peaceful soul music that crosses genre boundaries that really don't exist. Franti addresses the causes and thoughts of the common man, and speaks for poor people and refugees everywhere. Taking their mark from the incredibly strong Yell Fire!, this just raises the roof. There's no filler here. It's a strong, satisfying work of art.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nobody right, nobody wrong!, November 8, 2008
This review is from: All Rebel Rockers (Audio CD)
Another great album from Spearhead. I discovered Yell Fire! less than a year ago and it stayed in my CD player until this came out. Saw them live outdoors on a summer night right after the All Rebel Rockers release, what a fun show! Spearhead is the best music since Bob Marley for a reggae loving bald head like me. Yell Fire still seems better, but there are at least six awesome songs on this record. Nobody Right, Nobody Wrong should be a big hit. It reminds me of Redemption Song, a song to sing along to with friends around a campfire on the beach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great effort by Franti, September 24, 2008

It would be hard to top, or even match, a masterpiece like "Yell Fire," that's a given. But "All Rebel Rockers" is still better than 95% of all the music coming out these days. Franti's lyrics are still pointed, and there is a good balance between "life is beautiful" songs and "rebel" songs. Musically the tunes are very strong. It actually might be a bit better "introduction" to Franti's music than "Yell Fire," which is something of a concept album.

Cherine Anderson is featured on several tracks. In some cases her harmonies complement Franti's voice really well, while on other tracks she just talks in the background. I don't care for that sort of stuff, but I can see how others might find it appealing. She does seem to be enjoying herself, and that adds to the atmosphere. Overall this is a great collection of material and a must-have for all Franti fans.

This album is not as good as their previous album, but that doesn't mean it isn't any good. If you liked the last album you will like this one. This album seems like a continuation of Yellfire. Meaning that they carry the same type of sound and feel that Yellfire had rather than that of their previous albums. All Rebel Rockers doesn't have the same impact as Yellfire, but if you are a fan of the group this definitely is worth the purchase.

This is what music is all about to me--a great beat that makes it hard to stay sitting down, with a MESSAGE. This isnt your generic 'irie mon' reggae (which i love), this is ala bob or ziggy or stephen marley--inspirational words that make you think hard about important things, but make you realize you are happy to be alive. This crosses all genres of music-I cant imagine anyone not loving this and being inspired by it. Thanks Michael!

4.0 out of 5 stars All Rebel Rockers, September 24, 2008

Back in the day, I used to think of Spearhead as more of a hip-hop act with other musical vibes thrown in for good measure. But more recently, Spearhead seems to have become a reggae act with other vibes thrown in. Me personally, I love the direction that Michael Franti has taken the group. The reggae outfit seems to fit better.

'All Rebel Rockers' continues in his recent success of awesome albums. I absolutely loved 'Everyone Deserves Music', as well as 'Yell Fire'. I wouldn't say 'All Rebel Rockers' is as good as those two, but it's definitely in the ballpark.

Michael Franti always seems to have a good mixture between political activism and a positive human outlook. He comes off like as a lovable mix between a militant and a hippie. Sort of a 2008 version of Bob Marley if he were still alive and making music.

The music, as always, is uplifting, danceable, head-nod-able, and always has good choruses for you to sing along to. Spearhead is a great band, one of my favorites, and yet they're definitely under the radar. I would definitely recommend this album. Plus, it's better than just about anything else new that you could be buying.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kingston Flavor!, September 9, 2008
This review is from: All Rebel Rockers (MP3 Download)
I've been hearing some of these tracks on the radio for the past couple of weeks and have been anxiously waiting for the release today. Starts out with a much more traditional early-Reggae sound, then mixes in a bit of hip hop and a more familiar acoustic Franti/Spearhead sound. It's a little bit different twist upon first listen, but if you're a Franti fan, you'll like it! Maybe leans more towards "Yell Fire" or "I Know I'm Not Alone" stuff, than say..."Stay Human", plus the new Kingston feel. Works great for me!
