An Incredible CD featuring Wild Bill and Eddie Lockjaw Davis, July 17, 2000

Wild Bill Davis... the Godfather of the Hammond Organ. When it came to drive and ability to cook, Jimmy Smith had nothing on him, and this CD is the proof. A later session, recorded 1976 in Paris France, Wild Bill rips, all stops out, with Billy Butler and Oliver Jackson - - the basslines groove and the chords are flying left and right. This is a heavy cooking session, not a "reunion" or "foreign indie label deal". Its Jazz organ music at its best ! - - As late as the mid '90s (prior to his death), Wild Bill was still tearing it up and very little had diminished from his style... here we have a chance to hear the godfather under great recording circumstances and with a juiced up ensemble. A definitely must have. Tunes include ON GREEN DOLPHIN STREET, BLUES FOR JOE, EXACTLY LIKE YOU, WHISPERING, AFTER YOU'VE GONE and six others.
