5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! The only really mature album from a Disney star.
I'm 26 and I'm I guy. Not one of those that can't stand the ever popular Disney style pop, but still one of those who doesn't like it to much. I have to listen to it because I have a lot of fans in my family. I find the "soundtrack" stuff - like the Hannah Montana CDs something for small kids only, Miley Cyrus's Breakout & new EP are much better and easy to listen. Demi...

Demi Lovato's, Ashley Tisdale's & Selena Gomez's CDs are completely not my style, just way to loud pop-rock material. And Vanessa Hudgens songs are something I can't stand. So I was less then thrilled when another "Disney star" made a CD. But I had some hope's as this one was not under the Disney label. And it really is a blast. The songs are more rock with a bit of country then pop and appeal more to people of all ages. Also the texts don't show the work of the same crews and censors over again. I was very sad, when Demi Lovato chose to make CDs under the Hollywood Records label instead of following her own more rock sound. Emily didn't make that mistake and followed her own path. And the effect is great. People of all ages should enjoy this EP. Let's hope the upcoming album is just as good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not what you'd expect at all -- much, much better, November 25, 2009

I've never reviewed a CD before, but I had to for this one. I bought this because I had a $5 credit on my account and figured "why not?" I was expecting another Disney machine album of pop songs. I couldn't have been more wrong. Emily Osment is a fantastic mixture of Avril Lavigne, Taylor Swift and the Plain White T's. She has an unbelievable flair for somehow simultaneously toeing the line between punk, rock, and even a little bit of a country feel. Lyrically, the album is significantly more mature than other Disney artists -- not mature as in controversial, but simply better-written (even more impressive when considering Emily wrote the songs herself).

Given the opportunity, Emily Osment's album could compete with any song on the Top 40 today. It's deserving of an audience far broader than the typical Disney tweens. I'm a 22-year-old male, and I'm not the least bit embarrassed to have this CD blaring in my car. Really a must-own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing EP, November 10, 2009
This review is from: All the Right Wrongs (Audio CD)
In Hannah Montana Emily plays Lilly who has NOO singing talent whatsoever, what I don't get is how the producers could hide her talent but showcase lame-o Mitchel Mussos! Emily is an amazing talent! Having had a hand in the writing of all the tracks on this EP! There is infectious pop and even a little country represented here! I Love "I Hate The Homecoming Queen"! She is a teenager with great potential, and a great voice! She should not be missed!

If you love Miley Cryus (Hannah Montana), You will love Emily. I bought this on Amazon. I didn't even know Emily had one out, my local store never got Emily in. This a must to buy for your little one or teen for Christmas. You won't reget it. Give Emily Osment a chance, we need good singers like her.

This is the first cd I bought for my daughter because she is basically an all and all out hannah montana fan but this young lady has quite a talented voice as well in which I don't think people give her the attention she deserves. Great singer and personality.

3.0 out of 5 stars My Thoughts on "All the Right Wrongs", December 1, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: All the Right Wrongs (Audio CD)
When I first saw Emily Osment's CD, I was curious. After listening to the songs, I can say that it was better than I thought it was, however...

Okay, before I get to the actual CD, I want to comment on Emily's voice. While it isn't terrible, it's not very pleasing either. All the songs she sings are sort of in the same range and it doesn't take too much vocal ability to master them. Second of all, her voice is pretty weak, which I'll elaborate on later. I'm in a choir, and though I think her voice has improved, some of the songs like "Hero in Me" or "I Don't Think About It" just don't sound good. Plus, I think it's a mistake to constantly put harmony on a CD. It sounds good at the right parts, but when you put it in all the time, you can tell that the artist needs it to sound better.

All right, on to the CD:

"All the Way Up" - 3/5: I'm not really sure why this is the first single, because it's not that catchy and I find the lyrics rather shallow. I enjoy songs with meaning and "It's my life and it's a riot/Come on baby you can't deny it" is just... well... I hate to say it, but a bit pointless. Also, the way she repeatedly sings "All the way up" grates on your nerves after a while. I can see why kids like it though, since it's a guitar-driven track with a beat.

"Average Girl" - 2/5: Ahhh, another break-up song. I don't have anything against break-up songs, but when they get too angst-ridden or sappy, it's just not cool. However, I will applaud her for the different-sounding-country-like track. Her vocals are not bad on this track, just average (pun not intended). The lyrics are a bit annoying, though.

"Found out About You" - 3/5: This one's actually all right and the piano part at the beginning is catchy, but again, the break-up theme gets tiring. But I think this is one of the best performances of Emily's vocals. Still, overall not a stand-out track.

"I Hate the Homecoming Queen" - 1/5: Now this is the track that I truly despise. I know that seems dramatic, but I find this track really childish. The lyrics are just teeny-bopperish and pointless. Okay, I know I'm going to get slammed for this, but I hate it when people curse in a song for no reason. Sure, it's not terribly offensive or going to scar your kids for life or anything, but I just find it embarrassing. Same thing for "Found out About You". However, it's not the reason I hate the song, I just don't find the melody or lyrics pleasing.

"You are the Only One" - 3/5: I guess this is a love song, and once again, the beat is catchy at the beginning. But Emily's weak vocals get lost in the chorus and it gets slightly repetitive. It's an okay song, one of the better ones on the album.

"What about Me" - 4/5: This is the best song on the album. The chorus is very catchy and the lyrics are more meanigful. Vocals are okay, again, not great, but it's one of the best she's done.

All in all, this album was all right. Emily is definantly better than other Disney stars musically, but if she wants to achieve real success, she's going to need to work things out vocally.

Final score for album:

Originality: 3.5/5
Vocals: 2/5
Catchiness: 2.5/3
Overall: 3/5

5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressive!!!!!, August 30, 2010
This review is from: All the Right Wrongs (Audio CD)
I reviewed this EP on iTunes. I said it there, and I'll say it here: This girl is going places!!!! I gotta say for a 18 year old guy, I like this EP. Song by song, this is how I review the album:

1. All The Way Up (4/5). The lead single off the album, is very catchy, the song shines on a nice balance, it has good lyrics, although I'll bump it down, to a 4 because it's not as good as the other songs on this EP.

2. Average Girl (3/5). Another good song, a level below "All The Way Up" and other songs on the EP, good, not great, but good.

3. Found Out About You (4/5). Another good song, I especially, when she says "damn" (yes she says it on "I Hate The Homecoming Queen" also), another good song, kind of a slow song, but its good in its own way.

4. I Hate The Homecoming Queen (3/5). An OK song, its an anthem for jealous teenagers, I am that person somewhat. But this is the second song where she says "damn", I said that too, an ok song like I said, but it got its own way to shine.

5. You Are The Only One. (5/5). BEST song on the EP!!! Those 4 words say it all. Great guitars, lyrics, and I kind of wish she was singing it to me, it speaks to me on so many levels! Great song!!!

6. What About Me (4/5). A good song, sounds like "Found Out About You" a bit (I think it better than that). But still, awesome!!

Overall: (5/5), a very nice EP, and I am looking forward to her debut album!!

I think Emily has a great voice and the cd is a smash hit. I don't think it's for young children but the actress is almost 18 years old and loves metal music. She's breaking out on her own deserves a chance. For anyone who thinks she can't sing should have their heads examined, she's got one heck of good voice!!! I'm sure she'll go far!
