Edited the DVD so of course I like it - Here is a trailer, March 30, 2010
This review is from: All Sales Are Final (DVD)
I'm Gord the guy who worked with Allyson over the course of a year to create this DVD. I don't see an option for uploading video trailers, so I'm using the video review service to post one.
Allyson had been visiting Calgary off and on for a year, and I'd videotape every show with multiple cameras. Certainly no one had planned on this DVD taking a year to complete, but every time Allyson recorded a new show it was like "Oh! There's more great material!"
The end result is definitely skews raunchy... which I think this trailer accurately reflects. It isn't that Allyson doesn't have tons of clean material... just that most of the taping occurred at smaller clubs to an audience of other comedians. You know what comedians don't mind? Filthy jokes.
I'm the target customer for this DVD. So let me quickly tell you what pisses me off about most DVDs:
- FBI warnings and pre-movie segments that can not be skipped. (None of that here!)
- Copy protection. (Well that wasn't really an option for us, but just the same, you CAN rip this DVD, but you won't need to because...)
- DRM. (A folder named PORTABLE on the DVD contains an MPEG-4 and MP3 for your portable device viewing enjoyment.)
- Expensive. (We priced it as low as we possibly could while still holding out any chance of making money on it. If you put it on your wish-list and buy it at the same time you're buying a bunch of other DVDs, then shipping won't jack up the price.)
- Boring DVD menus. (You'll see.)
So to wrap up: This is (IMHO) an exceptionally funny stand-up routine, by one of Canada's top comedians. If I hadn't been super-impressed the first time I saw her perform, this DVD would not exist.
