George at his finest,
By
This review is from: All the Seasons of George Winston: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
"All the Seasons of George Winston," is an intelligently selected anthology of the highlights of his many studio albums. If it has a drawback, it is that some of the songs are shortened edits of much longer songs from the original albums. The most notable example of this is on "Colors/Dance," originally from the album "Autumn," that is cut down from over ten minutes to about three and a half. Nevertheless, this album is a good place for someone just starting to get into George Winston's music to start. He plays the piano like no other working musician today. Once it has whetted your appetite, you are sure to want to go for more of his original albums. For that I would recommend "Autumn" and "Summer" most highly.

Introductory Winston-Buy The Original Albums Instead,
By A Customer
This review is from: All the Seasons of George Winston: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
These are edited versions of George's best music. You would be better served by getting the original albums starting with Autumn and December. The moods he develops come out better in the context of the album as a whole rather than as the individual song cuts.

This is a good starter George Winston,
By Leah Allan (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All the Seasons of George Winston: Piano Solos (Audio CD)
If you are new to G. Winston music, and would like a sampler, this is a good one. It has a variety of songs from his albums. There are also a few tracks from the Plains CD. However, his CD's make musical sense all the way from beginning to end, and that is missing in this CD. He tells stories, and this CD just gives you the bits of his stories. Still, it is a great place to start.
