I was taught by the author!
I was taught by the author, Barbara Baumgarten! She is a renowned children's storyteller for the free library of Philadelphia! I am a reference librarian, and will likely never do a storytime, but if I'm needed, I can do it thanks to her! Parents, buy this for your kids! You will find this book a joy to read to your child!

Nice illustrations, Forget the stories!
The illustrations are pretty, especially the metallic silver touch! However, the stories are [weak] and simplistic (nor all original -- the "Danced-Out Shoes" is a variation on the well-known Twelve Dancing Princesses story). The stories have a "silver" theme forced on them; the morals at the end of each story also are forced, and do not depict our values. (For...

However, the stories are [weak] and simplistic (nor all original -- the "Danced-Out Shoes" is a variation on the well-known Twelve Dancing Princesses story). (For instance, in the first story, we think that the first sister was right to hurry home once she realized that the old woman had stolen their money.) We love beautifully illustrated fairy and folk tales -- this one does NOT make the grade. |
