5.0 out of 5 stars I heard it on NPR, October 11, 2003

This is a very interesting mix of music genre. The highlight is the Antonio Carlos Jobim song from the album "CASA". Sakamoto plays on Mr. Jobim's home piano in Mr. Jobim's home. Very nice. Many of the tracks on this collection will inspire you to buy the albums that the tracks are from.

I wish Amazon could have these tracks available to hear, online. I ordered this CD "cold" and have not regretted it! This is an intriguing and very eclectic mix. I am already a fan of Koop and had the Ry Cooder/Manuel Galban album (which is a classic!), but most of this was new and exciting. One song might lead you to the Left Bank of Paris, another to a folky enclave in the Village, then you're off to a Cuba that never existed...it all works. I continue to allow this CD to "wash over me" each time I listen, and enjoy the experience.

Another reviewer noted that it would be great to be able to listen to clips of this album before buying. I just wanted to note that if you go to npr.org's All Songs Considered section, you can listen to all the songs featured on all of their CDs (follow the "Buy the CD" link to find the clips). Happy listening--and I know when you hear it, you'll want to buy it!
