4.0 out of 5 stars great!
In my opinion this is one of the best baseball games out there. The graphics are great and the special features like TWIB challanges and home-run derbys are nice. But the game quality is bad. Sometimes the frames will move really slow and cause you to mess up a play. And the thing that bothers me the most is that the game freezes a lot, even though the disk is almost...

3.0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed....it's really not great.
All Star Baseball 2005 is a decent game. It's not as good as MVP Baseball 2004 and here's why. When I played the game, I noticed the graphics were pretty amazing. The parks and players looked very accurate and were pretty clear. However, for most gamers, graphics isn't everything. I found the game to be very choppy (slow frame rate) when I played; a few times the...

Sometimes the frames will move really slow and cause you to mess up a play. And the thing that bothers me the most is that the game freezes a lot, even though the disk is almost brand new and has no scratches.(It only freezes when its loading back to the main menu after you have won or lost the game, hopefully won.)So if you're planning to get this game you better have a lot of patience.

All Star Baseball 2005 is a decent game. It's not as good as MVP Baseball 2004 and here's why. When I played the game, I noticed the graphics were pretty amazing. The parks and players looked very accurate and were pretty clear. However, for most gamers, graphics isn't everything. I found the game to be very choppy (slow frame rate) when I played; a few times the game stopped for a split second during either a pitch or while in the field, causing me to miss the ball when hitting and I didn't catch the ball so it got very frustrating. The controls are okay, not the best, and the gameplay modes are actually pretty good. There's a homerun derby which is pretty fun, a TWIB section to win some more fun things, a good franchise mode, and more fun options. Also, I liked the camera mode that you can chose when pitching (it's from behind the pitcher just like on TV). Overall, MVP Baseball is probably the better choice because the fps is higher, the graphics are a little better, the Barry Bonds replacement (Bonds isn't in any baseball games because he didn't sign the agreement) is more accurate to Bonds then a white player who's not A+ in contact, and the modes are about the same. This game is definitely worth renting though.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another flawed game engine......., June 7, 2005

Another solid game until you find the weakness with the game engine, if your drag bunt with any runner with speed 80 pts or higher you will reach safely 80+% of the time. Chone Figgins was hitting over .800 50 games into the season for my expansion team as a all bunting lead off man, and you can do it with runners on, bases loaded, and you can even steal home at a 50% clip too. You can ignore this if you decide never to bunt or try to steal home but once you know this its hard to enjoy the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST BASEBALL GAME EVER, March 4, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: All-Star Baseball 2005 (Video Game)
ASB/05 in my book is the best game ever. Have played it for hours it's just hard to put down once started. I'm in a EXPANISON/FRANCHISE season. I Made an EXPANSION team " North Dakota Fury" (even though I'm from Texas) Right now my record is 16 - 13 and I find that being real, the CPU is treating it like an EXPANISON team as it is I mean lets face it a team that is just made couldn't and shouldn't go from the worse to the best in the first season. To me that is just reality from being the real thing.
2 things do find error in this game but nothing to major (1) it does seem to freeze more then maybe other baseball games do. Out of the many hours days and months I have played this game it's froze 3 maybe 4 times (Not to majar.) In a game with TB just had got it tied 7 to 7 in the 7th and it froze ( was not a happy guy BUT I lived ) (2) Wish it had the speed of the pitch when the ball is hit, have seen no baseball game with this on it but then again this is just a little thing sure we all will live without the speed of the pitch that is hit... All in all I do give this game a 5 star it's fun, it's real and it's only 15 bucks I mean go for it you WON'T be sorry at all to give 15 bucks for this GREAT game...

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes me experience the big leagues!, April 25, 2004

I love the play and graphics of this fun game. Until I get myself recruited into the majors I'll have to settle for the next best thing. This game is so fun. I can't wait to get home and play it when I'm at work. My wife is not happy though as it keeps me from doing the chores. I rather be in the game.

I just played ASB 2005 for 3 days, and i'm already hooked! I borrowed it from a friend and 3 days later i wanted to own it. The franchise mode is awesome. The hitting starts off kind of hard because you hit a lot of weak pop ups, but once you get to play it you get more and more hits. The pitching is awesome but you throw some wild pitches that really should be strikes. The Create-A-Player is awesome. You have so many options, and you can make your guy as good as you want (from A+ to D-). This is by far the best baseball game i have ever played.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best gameplay of any baseball games I have ever played, May 29, 2004

The gameplay and graphics are excellent!
I feel like I am actually drawn into the game.

Definitely one of the best baseball games out there,
and a game worth having !!!

A friend of mine has "EA's MVP Baseball", I did not like it
at all.

"ASB 2005" is by far a much better sports game, in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is my favorite of sports titles, April 21, 2004

I find this game to have the best gameplay of any baseball games I have ever played. I like a challenging game that I yearn to use for the long term with fun realistic effects. This game takes me into the game like no other with the controlability and effects I have wanted for a long time. I can only imagine what the programmers will dream up next year after the features this year.

4.0 out of 5 stars a little glichy, May 31, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: All-Star Baseball 2005 (Video Game)
this is one of the most fun baseball games of all time! Id rather have this than some of the newer games its so fun. there are a couple of gliches though. one time my friend and i were takin turns playin innings he hit a grounder and the guy made it to second because it got by the 3rd baseman while he was standing on second the 3rd baseman was holdin on to the ball and it said OUT. sometimes gliches can be just so funny though we laughed for a couple minutes after that. I HIGLY RECOMEND IT.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good!, June 21, 2004
By
"jpslggs4" (Detroit, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All-Star Baseball 2005 (Video Game)
Allstar baseball 2005 is very much like other MLB games, such as MLB 2005 and MVP 2005. The players are very life like with their regular batting stances and feilding positions. The graphics are incredible and the camera angles are different and fun to play through. Franchise mode is very similar to the 2004 version with spring training and real live season play. Scenerio mode is very good with very well thought out 2003 scenerios including the heartbreaking Bartman foul ball incident with the Chicago Cubs. All-in-all the 2005 version of Allstar baseball is indeed a great on going game to have if your collector of the Allstar baseball games, but there is not much difference between the this game and the other MLB games except for the fact that Allstar baseball has a scenerio mode!
