DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY,

This review is from: All Star Emery Cat Board (Misc.)
3 out of 3 cats hate this post. They are no strangers to scratch posts, they've loved every option until I got this one. I've tried everything to get them to scratch it. Too flimsy, easily tips, the base is not wide enough. My all 3 cats got scraed and would not come anywhere near this board when it tipped over them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. & $7.99 SHIPPING ON A 7oz unit?

Too unstable, waste of good money,

It's really as if the manufacturer didn't actually TEST this product. My cat stepped on the edge, the whole thing flipped up towards her face, and she scrambled to get away as fast as she could. Game over. What a waste of money.

WORST PRODUCT EVER,

This review is from: All Star Emery Cat Board (Misc.)
We bought this to stop our cat from scratching up the corner of the sofa, but it tipped over on her repeatedly and scared her away from using it. We slipped the base under the corner of the sofa to stabilize it and the post would bend toward the cat when used, then soon came off the base altogether.

coin toss,

I, too, was taken in by the "2 fur" deal. (Buy one get one extra). This product is a coin toss. It makes a good spot for your cat to scratch, other side of coin, flimsy, and not well constructed. I followed directions: put pad in holder, generous dosing of (included) cat nip, insert cat toy (feathery top on plastic rod) in convient hole. Enjoy.Ok,, fine, did all that, cat stepped over to side of product and with one swipe of paw, snapped rod off at base. Mind you cat is not quite a year old. Restored toy (shorter now) and with in 3 swipes dislodged feather top off post. (Post and rod now rest on top of fridge for later toys) After about a month, cat has used scratcher spareingly. (Oh look, scratch pad ! I may as well use it while I'm here, yawn.) Mine hasn't flipped over yet. I'm not happy with it, but I'm not going to throw it out either. It's another thing for my cat to use, and leave my furniture alone... This is my story and I'm sticking to it.....

cheated,

Ok... I ordered from their web site. They forced a 2nd unit on me and there was no choice to refuse it. The plastic holder is thin, cheap, and breaks easily. My cats refused to touch this sharp hard thing! The cat nip is all that was useful. Wish I had researched it more. Do not buy this item! Wasting money

DO NOT BUY,
This review is from: All Star Emery Cat Board (Misc.)
I HAVE TWO CATS AND ONLY ONE ATTEMPTED TO USE IT. WHEN HE DID GO TO USE IT, ONE OF HIS NAILS GOT STUCK AND HE HAD A HARD TIME GETTING IT TO RELEASE. HE NEVER TRIED TO USE IT AGAIN, EXCEPT TO SIT ON IT. I HAVE SINCE FOUND REVIEWS WHERE CATS CLAWS ACTUALLY GET TORN OFF WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!

Clip cats' claws first,

I have 4 older cats and they all use it, even the declawed one. I suggest clipping your cats' claws and then introducing this scratcher. It has maintained the short length and even rounded the tips of their claws. I have not had to go back and clip their claws since they started using it. They do not scratch the furniture anymore. I have never had it tip over and one of my cats is over 15 pounds. The toy is cheap and broke off of the base within minutes, similar to other users. I am pleasantly surprised whith the emery cat.

Emery Cat,
This review is from: All Star Emery Cat Board (Misc.)
I purchased this board at Wal-Mart and decided to try it. I have several cats and within 15 minutes the feathery toy was destroyed and nothing was left but the stem. I had no trouble with it tipping and the cats all gathered around it and did use it. Apparently this is nothing but a cardboard type scratcher with sand or abrasive material glued to the top. It's been 4 days now and there is a large area in the middle with all the abrasive material gone and cardboard exposed. I can hear them two rooms away ripping it to shreds. They have destroyed it for it's useful purpose. Maybe one or two cats that use it, but a multiple cat household that use it and it's $20 down the drain and back to the woodwork and couch. They are wrecking balls with claws. And for me declaws are out of the question. That's like cutting the last joint of your fingers off. An easier and more productive solution is a 20" long and 4" diameter tree branch nailed to a sturdy base. I have one of those and it's down to a 2" diameter.

My cat loves it!,
By

I know that a lot of people have given this product bad reviews, so I was really hesitant about buying. However, the idea of not having to tackle my 17 pound cat down to trim his nails was way too tempting. I have a very large cat (17 lbs) and a small cat (6 lbs). The second that I put this scratching board on the ground, my big cat started scratching. He LOVES it. It hasn't tipped over, or even really moved while he is using it. My smaller cat really loves the little toy that comes with it, which is soft and has a bell. She will bat at the toy but hasn't really scratched much. However, her lack of interest may only be that the larger cat has claimed this as his toy.The toy has a plastic base, which looks flimsy from close up, but actually isn't. It has a deep brown "wood" colored base and actually seems sort of classy from any distance (at least compared to the corrugated cardboard panel in a box that it replaced). I also got a free little cat brush with the order, which my big cat, who is very furry and sheddy, really likes. I ordered through the actual company's website, which seemed a bit sketchy, so I had my fingers crossed for no incidents. Luckily, there were no issues. I ordered one scratching board and got my second one for free. Also, the whole order took less than a week to arrive at my door. As for the promise to manicure my cat's nails... it's hard to tell at this point. Honestly, however, I am just happy that I found a scratching board that he likes that doesn't leave a trail of shredded cardboard bits everywhere. |
