5.0 out of 5 stars All the fun and more
The first two Ramones albums plus b sides on one CD is as fine as it gets for the happy comic book lyrics and head bobbing sounds of the late 70's. This is definelty a "play loud" selection. What makes them so great, and they were a great band, is that with a few nifty chords and a simple hard driving drum and bass line they were able to make any blue day brighter...

1.0 out of 5 stars WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?
So every time I hear about the Ramones it's always about how much they have influenced my favorite bands. Green Day, Rancid, Jimmy Eat World, Good Charlotte, ya know PUNK! But every time I looked at their CD at Walmart I was like god who are these hippies. With their stupid long hair and dirty clothes. Eventually I was like what the hell I'll check it out. I was pretty...

5.0 out of 5 stars All the fun and more, April 4, 2005
The first two Ramones albums plus b sides on one CD is as fine as it gets for the happy comic book lyrics and head bobbing sounds of the late 70's. This is definelty a "play loud" selection. What makes them so great, and they were a great band, is that with a few nifty chords and a simple hard driving drum and bass line they were able to make any blue day brighter. Cheerful punk? "Hey little girl, I wanna be your boyfriend." Yes. As American as it gets with songs about sniffing glue, being an unruly kid, chasing girls, riding in cars, sniffing more glue and then dancing through the night. The Ramones had no pretentions to being anything other than a great rock and roll band and "All The Stuff Vol. 1" is the first chapter in music the way that the music of rock and roll began. Punk aside, what band after them doesn't owe them a nod of thanks for how to work the hell out of a chord and to make the 2 minute song an art form of both rage and giggles? This CD, Ramonesmania and It's Alive are very much essential discs for the car, for parties, and for working around the house with a dance in your step.
Some rockers need angry punk and Jamaican Clash rip-offs to justify the beat, but when listenting to the Ramones none of that is needed, all you need is a love of the Mosrite bass and guitar and a sense of humor. Fast and loud. That's the Ramones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compilation of first 2 albums and then some..., February 17, 2005
By
P. Abramoff (Moorpark, California United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This CD is contains the complete first two albums by the
Ramones: "Ramones" and "Ramones Leave Home". It also includes
a few B-sides of singles, not released on the original LP's.
These are "I don't want to be learned, I don't want to be tamed",
"I Can't Be", "Babysitter", and the live version of "California
Sun". Unfortunately, it does not contain the originally banned
track "Carbona Not Glue", which was replaced by "Sheena is a
Punk Rocker".
This CD is especially helpful for all those old Ramones fans
out there trying to replace their vinyl LP's onto CD. This
will save you having to buy both "Ramones" and "Ramones Leave
Home", and give you a few bonus tracks as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential rock'n'roll from one of the greats!, June 30, 1998
By A Customer
These albums are so good I want to weep. If you know anything at all about the Ramones you will not doubt me when I say they are one of the greatest, most original and influential bands of all time. These albums, the third and forth, are pure American rock'n'roll--from the bubblegum rhythm of "Rockaway Beach" to the sheer infectious fulltilt rave-up of "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" (in my opinion, ranks with "Like a Rolling Stone," "Satisfaction," "Paperback Writer," "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Every Breath You Take" as one of the top ten greatest rock'n'roll songs EVER) to the manic "I Wanna Be Sedated" and heartbreaking "Questioningly," this CD is a must. Whenever I go to someone's house and I check out their CDs (you do this too), and if I do NOT see a Ramones CD or tape or record, my estimation of that person drops a notch. Hell, three or four notches. Brilliant beyond words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the Greatest Rock and Roll ever written, July 13, 2001
By
Stuart Miller (Saugerties, NY United States) - See all my reviews
What more can I say, these songs are quite possibly the Ramones best work. No collection is complete without All The Stuff and More Vol I and II. Punk Rock really started with The Ramones, and I think I speak for all Ramones fans when I say I MISS THE RAMONES! The Punk Rock community lost it's greatest benefactor when we lost Joey Ramone.

5.0 out of 5 stars made me reconsider..., April 4, 2002
By
Mike K. (Massachusetts, USA) - See all my reviews
Sometime ago I got ramonesmania, and while I enjoyed it, I sort of wrote them off because of all the silly faux heavy metal, phil spector collaborations and attempts at new wave from the later years on there. Then one day I got this on a whim and it completely changed my impression of them. Still pretty goofy, but the songs just sound much better in this context. Just one rush of catchy punk energy after another. There's not a single song I don't like on this cd, and even if there was, it would probably be over in 2 minutes anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Ramones are Punk, April 8, 2005
By
B. Dayton (Elk Ridge, ut United States) - See all my reviews

To the kid who likes B182 and buys his CDs at walmart. Your review speaks for itself. You ain't a punk if you like all those light weight bands and if you buy your CDs at walmart. The Ramones along with the Pistols invented punk nearly 30 years ago. When they first came out they were revolting against the radio, not trying to fit nicely between Britney Spears and Sting like B182 and the rest of those phaux-punks

5.0 out of 5 stars Blink 182 Ha Ha Ha, April 20, 2005
By
reality check (Wakefield, RI United States) - See all my reviews
I'd rather listen to Britney Spears than that garbage. Blink 182 is the milleniums answer to the Monkeys. In fact I think the monkeys would blow 182 off the stage. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Thanks kid, I needed that! Priceless.

Punk does not exist anymore. Its a snapshot in time!
