5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Recording, November 5, 2004

This review is from: All That Glitters (Audio CD)
MRI's little album shows that they have perfected the art of writing evocative and uplifting tech house tracks. Tech house, like much of electornic music - isn't hard to create. With technological resources at hand to simplify the job, the talent in this song style is in the arrangement of the music. Here is where MRI conquers all.

Each and every track is so well arranged that you can read the artist's intention to pull you in up an down as they intended to do. As a quick example, listen to "Nightclubbing at Home" and watch as you are hooked into the infectious groove, tugged towards a climax, let down slowly, only to be tugged back again to an even more powerful one. This is quality work, people, and an essential recording for anyone into house music, regardless of the style.

5.0 out of 5 stars ...IS GOLD!!!, March 16, 2004
This review is from: All That Glitters (Audio CD)
MRI's follow-up to their dance floor crazy debut, "Rhythmogenesis", is a very ambitious release that has taken house music to an all-new level! This time with vocals from De-Phazz's vocalist Pat Appleton and even a distorted sample from Aaliyah's, "Try Again", MRI has done an incredible job of adding something different to oft-times very familiar dance music. With the utilization of funky basslines, minimal down tempo in spots, catchy melodies and almost etheral chords, MRI's "All That Glitters" is what most dance/microhouse artists are attempting to do, but fail miserably in the process because they lack the creativity of German producers, Stephan Lieb and Frank Elting. Throw this baby on with their first album and Luomo's "Present Lover" and you've got one helluva party! A+

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic. One of the best "house" releases, April 23, 2002
By A Customer

(Editing one year after)

MRI are one of those followers of "minimal house", or microhouse, or whatever-name-you-want movement (to explain it as simplified as possible: house with a twist) whose last album "Rythmogenesis" was a good hypnothic experience... but this one is incredible. There are more beats, more arrangements, there are vocals (one of the songs "Blue" features Aaliyah's "Try again"!), and 10 songs perfectly timed and really catchy. If you liked "Luomo" and want something a bit more straightforward, take a look at this: it has not so many glitches, and many songs have the classic 70s-sound sample, but it is much better than the average.

Highlights? "Tied to the 80's". Do yourself a favour and listen to that song
