5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic!
I have owned "All That Jazz" since shortly after it's release. Originally I did not give Breathe much thought but the girl I was in love with at the time liked the song "Hands to Heaven" so I bought the CD to see what they were all about. Well, it's almost 16 years later, the girl is long gone, but I find myself drawn to this recording over and over again. "All That...

Well, it's almost 16 years later, the girl is long gone, but I find myself drawn to this recording over and over again. "All That Jazz" is truly a classic that has stood the test of time. Breathe was a talented band who unfortunately had a short life. Absolutely one of my favorites!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unforgettable hits from the 80's!!!!!, October 16, 2005

I was 9 years old when this c.d. came out and obviously didn't remember a lot being I was a kid. But when I turned 15, the memories kicked in! HANDS TO HEAVEN is no doubt a true classic!!! I remember when they would play this on the radio station, I would sit on my desk in my room, open up the blinds, stare at the beautiful sunset, and would think about the girl I was in love with. It might sound weird but it just gave me courage to get up and take a chance with her. Well, it's been 12 long years, I've been in the military, and the rest is history..... However, HANDS TO HEAVEN just has the words and music to relax and basically put anybody in cloud nine mode. Thank you Breathe for the great music/memories and may GOD richly bless you all. (...)

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute classic album from the mega-talented Breathe, December 1, 2006

As long as I live I'll never tire of this fantastic album. These guys knew how to write a song. The quality of the music here on every song is just out of this world, with a highly professional sound. These were serious musicians who unfortunately didn't become huge (although they should have).

But I admit that I'm a little biased, for the reason that "Hands To Heaven" is here, my favorite song of all time. And it literally took me about 10 years to discover which band performed it. I became obsessed with this song the very first time I heard it, but didn't know who performed it. I must have sung the words to at least 40 different people, yet none of them knew the song. And then finally, several years ago, someone at a record store knew it and pointed me to the album. I was fortunate enough to find it while it was still in print. Sadly it is out of print now, and it will cost you a pretty penny to get it. But it's worth every cent. I suggest also checking eBay-I've seen it pop up there from time to time. Also recommend is Breathe's other album, Peace Of Mind, which I think is also out of print. Not quite as strong as All That Jazz, but still definitely worthy of tracking down.

Breathe were one of those 80s middle of the road bands that sadly didn't make any more than 2 great albums. All That Jazz their first album is a classic. From soulful tracks like Jonah to the truly great ballad Hands From Heaven, this is a must for your collection. Unfortunately like many others, I only have the album on cassette and was very fortunate to obtain their second album, Peace of Mind, on cassette long after it was released. If anyone can tell how I can get my hands on a CD version of either I'd be grateful.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best ever album i owned & bought, May 15, 2005

This review is from: All That Jazz (Audio CD)
the reason i bought this album then were because of 2 songs titled "HOW CAN I FALL? & HANDS TO HEAVEN" everytime I would like to pop it in my CD player I would only play these two songs & skip the rest in the album then one time I was sitting on the couch pondering what task should i do first to start my day, I inadvertently played this in my CD player & I heard the first track & I said to myself "not a bad song" then after that ALL THAT JAZZ the second track played man! I'm becoming drawn to each in every track in the album that i end up playing the whole album countless of times! man this album is awesome! I couldn't get tired from listening to it up to now over & over as a matter of fact i'm listening to it right now while i'm writing this review! again buy this album & you won't regret it especially if you're a fan of jazzy pop music both slow or up tempo i've been enjoying this! THANK YOU BREATHE FOR THE GOOD MUSIC!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great debut, but check out their second., November 20, 1998

All That Jazz is a great debut CD from Breathe. "Hands To Heaven" and "How Can I Fall?" are great pop songs from the '80's. But what I like most about this group is the jazz elements in their songs. What I can't figure is where have they gone? Their follow up, "Piece of Mind", is a great testament to their maturity in the early '90's from a typical pop group of the '80's to a mix of pop, jazz, and blues. "Piece of Mind" might be hard to find (Amazon does not list it), but it is well worth getting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back Together Someday ...., January 22, 2006

I give this album 5 stars just for "Hands To Heaven" alone since I play it every night while thinking about my boyfriend who is far away in the Middle East right now. I play that song to bring hope that I'll see him again. Some of my other favorites are not only "How Can I Fall?" but also "Won't You Come Back", "Monday Morning Blues","All This I Should Have Known" - heck virtually the entire album!

On another note, I have a lot of my friends who did not grow up here when they were younger, so I always have to play what they missed during the 80s (I'm grew up here in the US). While they are familiar with Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Prince, Breathe is not well known in my social circles. However, I only need to play the 2 most popular songs "Hands To Heaven" and "How Can I Fall" to for them to fall in love with the group. You can tell when songs are timeless when a person who has never heard them instantly become fans nearly 20 years after they are released!

5.0 out of 5 stars "All that jazz, that Hollywood jazz", May 1, 2005
This review is from: All That Jazz (Audio CD)
Man, this album brings back memories. But besides the two obvious reasons most people will buy this album (those two reasons being "Hands to Heaven" and "How Can I fall"), "All That Jazz" will seep into your CD rotation more and more prominently, and before you know it, you'll know the lyrics to every soulful pop gem on this album.

The standout tracks besides the two big hits are "All That Jazz", "Jonah", "Liberties of Love" and "For Love or Money", which appears on the UK release (the version here on Amazon is the US version).

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys were just too talented for their own good., September 2, 2003

As the old saying goes, "If it's popular, then it probably isn't very good."
Yeah, well these guys were goooood! So it's no wonder no one's ever heard of them nowadays.
Breathe's `All That Jazz' is a classic. It is one of those CDs that you can play from start to finish without ever having to skip one track. It is filled with lots of jolly, superbly crafted pop songs, as well as some of the most powerful of ballads out of the 80s. Who can forget 1988's "Hands to Heaven" and "How Can I Fall", their most successful hits. Those two songs were so played out back in those days, but you would not want to be standing next to me today when they come on at the local supermart.
My most favorite songs on here though are actually the fast ones. Songs like "Jonah", "All That Jazz", and "Monday Morning Blues" are just jammin'! Oh yes, and I have to admit, the lyrics on "Any Trick" are totally corny. But who cares! It's a fun song! (Oooh baby, you got me jumping like a monkey. I'm so crazy, I'll do any trick for you.) You just gotta love that song!
Their lead singer David Glasper's voice will also do a huge number on you! You have to hear this guy's voice. It's so perfect and so enticing (for the ladies, that is). Til this day, I still haven't heard a voice that could top that.
`All That Jazz' makes for an awesome debut for these guys. Yes, it may be out of print, but you shouldn't have to search too hard to find yourself a copy. There's usually several floating around at the Zshops or the online auctions. Oh, and while you're at it, be sure to also grab yourself a copy of Breathe's other release `Peace of Mind'. Think `All That Jazz' is good? That one will totally knock your socks off!

Oh man.......this group is by far one of my favorites and one of the best ever to grace a recording studio....from the haunting songs of "Hands To Heaven" and "How Can I Fall?" - this group gives me goosebumps with their beautiful harmonies and orchestrations - the lead singer just "cuts" through it all with that "haunting" quality.....these two ballads are absolutely beautiful and so soothing.
