Radio-friendly, power pop-rock at its finest,
By
This review is from: All That We Needed (Audio CD)
The GoodTwo fools that need each other is what "All that We Needed" is about. This track shows off De'Mar Hamilton's drum skills more than Tirio/Lopez's catchy riffs, or Tom Higgenson's smooth vocals. The pounding drums return on "Revenge", a catchy tale of a scorned lover's retaliation. "Take Me Away" is what Higgenson proclaims when he sees his ex-girlfriend at a party with a new boyfriend by her side. The song is loaded with great vocal melodies and just enough chugga-chugga riffage. "My Only One" is led by a muddy bass line and an infectious repetitive lick. "Breakdown" is quite thought-provoking as it explores the emotional damage that fighting parents can inflict on their witnessing child. The track's appeal is due to its memorable and tuneful execution that will help you remember the seriousness of it. A thick bass line makes itself known on "Anything". This song of betrayal is also comprised of repetitive licks and driving drums. On "Sing My Best", Higgenson proclaims that all the negative aspects of being on tour are temporally erased when he takes the stage to perform. The Bad Nothing notable The Verdict Radio-friendly, power pop-rock at its finest. Not just catchy, but relatable too.

This kinda reminds me of the way saves the day had their sophomore effort which blew up and became popular. The mixing is about the same. Every Second Counts does not compare to this album. This defines their sound and original composure. They kinda varied off into commonville with the release of Every Second counts, but this release, is distorted enough to not get annoying and crafted beautifully. The pop nature of Plain white t's is becoming popular and this album is one of the contenders in that category. And to set the record straight, there is only one acoustic number on here and it is Hey There Delilah.

I had never heard of the Plain Whites T's until I listened to "Take Me Away" on Fuse. It was awesome so i listened to more of the stuff on their CD All That We Needed and loved it. It is a light version of punk with cool yet simple guitar parts and catchy lyrics. I deffinatly reccomend it! If you like "Take Me Away" you will love the rest of the CD!

what a great sophomore album. most bands cant follow their debut with something this good. "Hey There Delilah" is an amazing acoustic song with lots of heart. which can be said about all of their songs. they're all about heartbreak and bitterness just like any good emo/punk band. highly recommended!

power pop with songs that anyone can relate to...,

so what makes this album so great? well, first off it's very catchy and poppy music with relatable lyrics that are down to earth and real. also, the songs are so simple and straight forward that they're easy to sing along to and understand. then, there is tom higginson's vocals that sound very similiar to jim atkins of jimmy eat world and the tight drumming and the hooks in the songs that make you move or stomp your foot whether you feel like it or not. best of all, this cd and their debut "stop" both seem like they're talking to me. every song of there's i can relate to and it just makes me want to sing the lyrics aloud with a middle finger in the air.musically, these guys are great too and are very comparable to once again jimmy eat world, fall out boy, and saves the day. they're music too kind of sounds like the cars as well as some other classic 80's pop. no matter what your music preference is, anyone would love this album. it's very poppy, mainstream-sounding, catchy, "real-life" lyrics, and just plain fun music. standouts are "all that we needed", "revenge", "anything", "take me away", and "hey there delilah". i highly recommend it to anyone...

Plain White T's are All That We Needed!,

A mix of power pop/alternative/and indie songs, Plain White T's put a lot of passion in their music. The songs are very good and well written even if they are slightly repetitive. Many of their lyrics are sweet love songs or songs about relationships gone wrong that would appeal to many who listen to emo music. However I would not classify them as emo for their music is generally upbeat. If you like to listen to just a few songs off a CD Plain White T's, All That We Needed, is a good buy. You will find that you fall in love with ½ the songs and the find others are good also. Listening to a CD as background noise you will love the sound and the lead singer, Tom Higgenson, has a great voice. The song "Hey There Delilah" sinks into your soul and make you want to melt in your shoes. It is soft and sweet love song it starts off with;"Hey there Delilah,What's it like in New York City?, I'm a thousand miles away, But girl tonight you look so pretty,Yes you do,Time Square can't shine as bright as you,I swear it's true" If this is the only song you've heard off that album I will warn you that it is the only real acoustic song on the album. The other songs are good in a different, more 'get up and jump around,' kind of way. The music is passionate and have very good beat that cause you to want to put it in your CD player on repeat. I would 99% recommend this album but try not to over play it as soon as you get it!

A very entertaining punk-pop album which is unfortunately kind've cheesy - the production is fantastic! - 4.5 stars,
This review is from: All That We Needed (Audio CD)
Plain White T's "All That We Needed", like Tsar's "Tsar", is a classic punk-pop album that's ONLY for punk-pop fans (once again it's cheesy and a guilty pleasure - WHEN will punk-pop appeal to fans of other genres?!?!?) It has no appeal for people who don't like punk-pop, but that doesn't necessarily matter. EVERY track here is wonderful punk-pop with crystal clear production. The musicianship is great and all the songs are very catchy (the songs are HARD and brutal sounding - the drums are, anyway). The singer, like Tsar, is also very easy to stand. Every song here is great and incredibly catchy (the song "All That We Needed" is probably the only one you'd be inclined to sing along with, though). Though it doesn't have any punk-pop "classics" like "Tsar" did, every track remains great. This is a highly recommended album for punk-pop enthusiasts! If you like this album try out any Tsar album, but most notably their self-titled debut (which is out of print - hurry!).Highlights include: the entire album!

I saw the Plain White T's in Lowell MA. I took my son and best friend's dtr. to see Simple Plan. I mostly was bored until this band bound on stage. I purchased the CD at the concert and we played it all the way home. The next day my son took it! It is popular in the car because I enjoy the music and can share it with him and the songs are so catchy!! I haven't been this excited about an up and coming band in a very, very long time!!

I bought this cd after hearing Hey There Delilah, which is one of my all time favorite songs. The Plain White T's have a lot of potential, but all in all, this cd isn't fantastic. Their sound is comparable to that of Fall Out Boy, Sugarcult, Blink 182, The Academy Is..., etc. The lyrics aren't remarkable, but that being said this cd does have some good songs. I'd reccomend buying the few songs on iTunes instead of paying for the whole cd.

Great Album!,
This review is from: All That We Needed (MP3 Download)
Got this album at the warped tour 2006, along with some others, and this just blew me away. I hadn't really heard of them except for "Hey There Del" of course. This album is so good you can listen to it all the way threw and not skip a single song! Certainly one of my top favorite albums.
