5.0 out of 5 stars All That You Are
All That You Are, by Woodleigh Marx Hubbard, was a delight to read. I find this book appropriate for all age groups, children through adults, even though it is classied as a children's book. The vibrant illustrations have the appearance of fine art. Through the illustrations, you are pulled into a vivid world that clearly evokes the concepts introduced. Important...

2.0 out of 5 stars A picture book for (some) adults
Short on text but not on depth, graphic artist Woodleigh Hubbard offers an extremely colorful ego boost. Although the book is quite pleasant, I cannot imagine myself as a child connecting with any bit of it. According to Hubbard, one should hug an elephant if it steps on your bicycle. "You Forgive" commands the text, and, obviously it was an accident, as...

The vibrant illustrations have the appearance of fine art. Through the illustrations, you are pulled into a vivid world that clearly evokes the concepts introduced. Important personal values such as, You are a loyal friend or You listen with your heart, are presented. This would make an excellent gift to teach values and build self esteem. I recommend giving it to a special friend. I gave it to myself.

Once again W. M. Hubbard has reached into her colorful and creative bag and outdone herself. It is truly a pleasure to include her and her works with my family during quality time. "We" ARE "All That You Are".

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK AIN'T JUST FOR KIDS!, April 8, 2000
This review is from: All That You Are (Hardcover)
Woodleigh's Passionate/Playful colors, creatures and (finally!) children offer the kind of joyful guidance through Life that I look forward to sharing with my own children (someday!). In the meantime, this 31 year old is gobbling up her art, words and wisdom. As usual with Woodleigh's books - the foundation of the work is so simply elucidated for the child reader and yet so profound and complex for us older folks. This is a great gift for self/family/best friends & people that just need a warm smile.

5.0 out of 5 stars All That You Are is All A Book Can Be, March 23, 2000

This review is from: All That You Are (Hardcover)
This is a book for people who believe the spirit of a child needs nourishing. The "Yipee!" youngsters this age have for the first morning light is alive and well in Woodleigh Hubbard's enchanting mirror for the very young. The innate joy of this age group, 4 to 8, is so at risk in a world filled with self doubt and frightened searching! Hubbard's Yahoo's and Whoopee's about who YOU are and HOW you are surely will find echoe in children fortunate enough to share a copy with an adult who remembers when...will strengthen and inspire them. The art has all the innocense of its brilliant primary colors, and a sophistication and a passion that open horizons for the reader.... If you are weary of parlor analysis and a world filled with gimme and get-me, acquire this book for yourself first, then share it with the very special children in your life.

Although the book is quite pleasant, I cannot imagine myself as a child connecting with any bit of it. According to Hubbard, one should hug an elephant if it steps on your bicycle. "You Forgive" commands the text, and, obviously it was an accident, as the elephant is shedding a single tear. This seems another of those "picture books for parents" we always wish we had a separate shelf for. Buy it if you have the new age parents who need such affirmations. Hopefully the bright, whimsical illustrations will hold the kids' interest because they are good enough, smart enough, and dog-gone it, they deserve it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful way to celebrate a child's individuality!, March 27, 2000
By
This review is from: All That You Are (Hardcover)
Another in a great succession of books by the author! "All That You Are" stresses, celebrates and warmly values a child's individuality. What a wonderful, ego-boosting gift to give a child you love -- and definitely read it to/with them the first time around to help emphasize their positive qualities and value to you. As always, the graphics are vivid and the images are whimsical and highly memorable. This is a great addition to my daughter's collection - and one I know we'll be reading and rereading far into the future.
