Best book Fern Michaels has written.,

This review is from: For All Their Lives: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book very much. I saw growth in characters, acceptance of situations as they happened and an overall well written story about those who fought an unpopular war and what happened to them after they returned home. The pain of loosing unknown soldiers along with those they knew was well done. Keep up the good work Fern. I am glad to see the sexual scenes take a back stage to the real drama of the story.

Enlightening historical fiction,

A unique blend of a romance with the historical Vietnam Era. This story was repeated all over the country many times, so I'm for sure some it was painful to read. I enjoyed it very much. I've read most of her books, but this older one I had missed. It also aptly described cold emotionless parents, unhappy childhood, and how adults can overcome their environment. The work done by nurses and doctors on the battlefield must have been under such primitive conditions it's a wonder anyone survived.

One writer or two?,

This review is from: For All Their Lives: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Did Fern Michaels get bored with the story and pay someone else to finish the book for her? The style of writing changed towards the end of the story. The plot and characters started out with real depth and meaning and held my attention; however, after Casey ended up with Alan it was as though the writer was 'standing back' and watching, and not really into the main characters anymore.I was extremely disappointed with this novel.

I have all of Fern Michaels' books and I do not take the rating system lightly. This particular story provided so much insight into the Vietnam war and the medical personnel who had to work in such heat and primitive conditions to help our wounded. I just finished the book yesterday and read through most of the night.

How could he give up?,

This review is from: For All Their Lives: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I felt for the most part, that the story was plausible. But I got truly irritated by how long it took for Mac and Casey to finally meet at the end. The fact that Mac gives up on Casey even after Alice gives him the go-ahead to go after her just doesn't wash. I was extremely disappointed that the never get together and presumably live their lives out without each other.I was truly touched however by the comraderie of the troops and the aftermath of the war.

I really enjoyed the book and couldn't wait to get to the ending to see what happened with Casey and Mac. I was very dissapointed to read that they never got together. They both wanted to in there hearts, but never did and that made me sad to read. I dont' think I'll be reading this one again, but who knows. I loved the story overall and the love between Mac and Casey before it awery was great!!

THREW THIS ACROSS THE ROOM!,
This review is from: For All Their Lives: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
***SPOILERS***I don't think I've ever been so upset after reading a book. I can take all kinds of emotional upheaval and tragedy in novels, however - I expect any romance novel I read to at least have a happy ending! This book was just one tragedy, heartache, pain, anguish filled moment after another. It was like torture. I kept reading, waiting for the relief of the main characters love to bring them together in the end. DIDN'T HAPPEN. OH MY GOSH it didn't happen!!! After slogging through all the pain and horrible, awful circumstances, they still love each other but don't get together?! I'm royally ticked off. I've always liked Fern Michaels, but this one makes me feel betrayed as a reader. UGH.

This book is not as good as her Kentucky or Texas series. I had the outcome figured out pretty quickly. It is a quick read though and fairly interesting.
