Chuck is a great guitarist and a brilliant composer. This CD has a particularly extraordinary tone and texture, with complex guitar riffs overlapping sweet and subtle rhythmes as well as some determined basslines and percussion. Just the right amount of keyboard and sax to add some color. Sample both ends of this spectrum by checking out "Golden Heart" and "Sarao"...although all the tracks in this CD are a treat. A truly wonderful painting of a musical portrait.

WOW every track is unique and distinctively Chuck... Heartfelt writing. superb production without overly so... guest musicians not limited to just playing the score... I have "Listen" and "ebop" each are great in content. His names of the albums each says it all "all there is" is nothing head back.... Many voices on Gituar. Great Drums, chops, turns... GO for it...PW

5.0 out of 5 stars All there is............., July 15, 2002

I've had the pleasure of listening to this CD over and over again. As of two years, I've been an advid admirer of Chuck Loeb's music. His style in my opinion can be compared to that of the late West Montgomery. He's got this fluid and relaxed style of playing. I think the first time I heard his music was during my stay in Sandiego. That was about two years ago and I'm still hooked. What I like most about his style is that he's somewhat of a "thinking artist." It's as if you can actually tell what he's thinking and feeling during his guitar sessions.
He diffinitely puts a lot of emotion into his music. From start to finish, I'd have to say that "All there is" is a good find. My favorite tracks are 2,3,4,6,7 and 9. Practically the entire album! Overall I'm impressed. Got cash? Get the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars you won't be disappoineted, July 14, 2002
This review is from: All There Is (Audio CD)
Guitarist Chuck Loeb continues his streak of excellent contemporary jazz music with this release, though to pigeonhole this realease as strictly contemporary jazz is only telling half the story.

The album starts with "As Is," a fresh take on be-bop that any jazz fan could respect. It ends with "Love Is All There Is," a atmospheric track that goes nowhere fast, despite the heartfelt sentiment of singer Carmen Cuesta, who is also Mr. Loeb's wife. In between it's all good, with jazz, Latin, new age, R&B, and even house influences forming a charming soundscape.

My favoite tracks are "Sierra Nevada," a David Mann (Nelson Rangell) produced track that's a little synth-heavy, but spontaneous despite this; "Sarao," jazz with a touch of Latin and house; "In the Hands," a killer song with funky bass work by the incomporable Will Lee; and "Bread and Butter," a Jeckyl-and-Hyde type track where quiet restraint and serious jamming get equal billing.

"All There Is" is one of the better jazz releases of 2002, and shouldn't be missed

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great One by Chuck, August 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: All There Is (Audio CD)
Chuck's released another winner! I have several others of Chuck's, and I especially loved Listen and In a Heartbeat. This one is just as good as those. Full of quality guitar playing, great compositions, and great playing by the other instrumentalists. I of course love Chuck's guitar playing and style throughout but I also really dig Kirk Whalum's sax on True or False, and Andy Snitzer's sax on Fundamentally Sound. Carmen's vocal on Love is All There is doesn't do much for me, but it's not annoying either.

If you're new to Chuck Loeb pick up this, or Listen or In A Heartbeat. If you already love Chuck Loeb, you'll enjoy this too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Recording, July 13, 2002

This review is from: All There Is (Audio CD)
This is the first Chuck Loeb CD I have purchased and am very, very impressed. The guitar playing is wonderful and the compositions are excellent. The word that comes to mind is: quality. Since I picked up this CD I have bought Chuck's two previous CD's:In a Heartbeat & Listen. I have been playing the three CDs continusly and I love them. The music is honest and reaches you inside.
Although Chuck's music is in the "smooth jazz" section of the CD store, I want to let you know that the quality of his music/playing rises above the lackluster "smooth jazz" music we often hear these days.
If you appreciate excellent--guitar playing, songwriting, production buy this CD and explore Chuck's other titles as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars well balanced soulful "progressive" smooth jazz, January 26, 2006
This review is from: All There Is (Audio CD)
This is a great cd that would best define "modern" fusion
music. At first listen this music appears to have the simplicity of the "smooth jazz" genre, but repeated listenings reveal it be quite complex in its compositions and execution.

Chuck Loeb is a master musician without a doubt. He is a great composer, a amazing guitarist, and produces his own music.
On this album many of the tracks are cut live with young musicians who complement him in a tight rhythmic funky groove.
These guys need more exposure because they are all great players.
Kudos especially to the drummer and keyboardist. The two cuts that feature Will Lee on bass are especially funky.

All in all a great outing for Mr. Loeb. highly recommended.

btw: If you want to hear a "different" Chuck Loeb, check out his group called "METRO"...you will be shocked!!!
