5.0 out of 5 stars These guys rule!
If anyone has seen Sev perform live, this CD is a must for their collections. These guys from Virginia/DC are already well-known in the area for their kick-a** live shows and their major label debut comes as close as a studio album can come to translating a live show for the listener.

After listening to songs like "Same Old Song," "Stand...

If anyone has seen Sev perform live, this CD is a must for their collections. These guys from Virginia/DC are already well-known in the area for their kick-a** live shows and their major label debut comes as close as a studio album can come to translating a live show for the listener.

After listening to songs like "Same Old Song," "Stand Straight," and "Player," you'll be able to see why their live shows are so energetic and unbelievable. With their sing-along choruses, you can picture yourself jumping around at one of their shows.

Vocalists Danny and Phil seem to play off each other with a chemistry similar to that of SA and Nick of 311. While Phil does most of the rhyming, Danny shows off some impressive vocals in "All These Dreams," "24/7/365," and "Twisted."

Overall, these guys just flat-out rock. The disc is a combination of hard rock, punk, hip hop, rap, etc. Sev deserves to be heard by everyone. So if you like any of the genres of music mentioned above, like the energy of live shows, and just want to sing out loud, go out and buy this album. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just AMAZING, June 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: All These Dreams (Audio CD)
If I had to choose one band in the whole world I would like to see live, it would be these guys from Northern VA. They put on an amazing show. When this album came out, I went and got it immediatly, and it's been in my cd changer ever since. It has got a great balance of songs. My favorites would have to be "Alright by Me," "Menace to Society," and, of course, "Same Old Song." If I could only recommend one album for the year 2002, it would be Sev. Go and get it.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's good for a starter., September 13, 2004
This review is from: All These Dreams (Audio CD)
I didn't even know this band existed until my friend played me that Pepsi Blue commercial song from like 2 years ago, and I'd been looking for a new rap-rock band to listen to. I know it's almost out of style, but I like the sound. So I don't care what's on MTV at the moment.

So Sev...they have really good potential. A few of the songs here really shine, such as "All These Dreams", "Same Old Song", "Alright By Me", and the first extra track on the eccono. They really can sound good if they want to; it's just that some of the tracks (7-10) all sound the same. The melody imprinted in the above mentioned songs is great, and both rap-styles I like. They have a really good beat going, and the music really does get you pumped up. A good example of this would be "Player", or "Menace". Honestly - they are good.

They need work, though. More melody, more actual singing, and more SFX in with the constant distortion guitar. Some people say their credibility is lax because they named their band after one of the singer's girlfriends (Alexis Sevanna). I'm not sure if that's true, but it wouldn't hurt them if they did; many bands have done that. What DOES hurt them is the fact that they post reviews of themselves on amazon under the alias A Music Fan. Come on, guys, there are other ways of promotion. At least you could identify yourselves when you put the one up about the eccono package, that was helpful at least.

But yeah...Sev is a decent rap-rock band. They need some work, but they could be amazing if they put their minds to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great CD from the VA band sev, June 10, 2002

boy this cd is great. I've heard them live a couple of times and it is simply incredible. This cd does a great job of capturing the intensity of the live shows. The lyrics to all of the songs are great, especially Player and Same Old Song. The whole cd is excellent, and all of the songs have something that is memorable. I highly recomend this cd to anyone who likes Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, or any similar band. Sev is great and I like this cd more than almost any in my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album..., June 25, 2002
This review is from: All These Dreams (Audio CD)
I bought this CD the first day it hit the racks at my local record store. I've seen their live show and was so fascinated with their energy and musical arrangements that I knew I had to get the album before it was sold out. "All These Dreams" is a powerful/impressive album blending hip-hop, metal, electronics and soothing melodies like no other band has. It's almost like jumping into a pool of warm water - it just feels right. After seeing their live show and hearing this CD I can definitely say that they are going to be the band to change the face of music as we know it today. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM.

This album is all around good stuff. It's fresh and new. I've never heard anything like it. Of course, "Same Old Song" is great, but there's so much more on this album. The title track, "All These Dreams" is really great and catchy, and "When" is great ballad. The effects on this album are great, too. Primarily on "Twisted." All in all, this rap/rock thing is definatly at its peak with this band. Definatly get this cd. And go see them live, they're amazing.

I stumbled upon Sev by accident - I took my daughter to see Nick Carter and Sev was an opening act. They were incredible! I bought their CD on the spot and have been listening to it constantly since. As some of the other reviews mention, Sev's style is nothing new - but that's not a bad thing. They employ a dual-vocalist system that makes each song an interesting weave of the two vocalists' styles. The musicianship represented on the album is also impressive. The guitar and bass parts speak up when they should and stand back when they should - proving that the classic metal guitar sound can be subtle as well as prominent. I even enjoyed the drums, as the drummer likewise demonstrates that tons of noise with a huge kit does not have to be made to accompany a rock band effectively. Lots of different influences can be heard on this album, and the band members deftly weave a great album - one of the few I own that I can listen to all the way through.
