I'm trying out what she said and it's helping a little. I lost a couple of pounds. I need to work on it some more though. I wonder if our portion control sensors are in our taste buds. It's like there is some kind of natural timing thing there between tasting the food and feeling like we've had enough to eat. So keep the food in your mouth a bit longer and you'll start to feel full after a few bites. Most of us eat too fast, because we are in a rush and we don't really taste what we're eating. Maybe we don't really concentrate on the taste because our minds are preoccupied with something else. When I can get myself to concentrate on the taste, I find myself not eating as much. This short little book may be shedding some light on a big problem. If it works, the solution doesn't really cost anything but the price of the book.

An excellent book, in the form of a short novel, that teaches very clearly one of the two essential points one must internalize to eat and be healthy, namely that one must eat portions in moderation, savoring each bite of delicious food, eating mindfully, never overeating and never allowing yourself to starve before eating. It is a very well-told and inspirational story.

The other aspect of healthy eating and living not covered by this book is to choose whole, natural, cruelty-free foods that don't clog your arteries and cause other harm to your body. But even many vegans are very unhealthy because they have not mastered the principles taught in this book, which are essential and at the heart of the American epidemic of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

I have always been a faster eater, never tasting my food. I can't say that just reading this book is all you need to know and do, but if you truly follow these guidelines they will work. A big problem is that so many of our everyday foods are very addictive. Make sure you recognize those foods in your diet and avoid them. That will make following these guidelines much easier. Good luck and keep trying.

Very rarely do I write a review. But this book has been a real wake up call for me. Have struggled all my life with diet and have just about every diet book ever written. The book makes so much sense. Have been losing weight following the five rules given in book. Just seems too good to be true. Very easy to read and understand.

I'm excited to put this into action in my life. The book has some great common sense strategies for getting thin and staying that way while eating and really tasting what you love.
