4.0 out of 5 stars Do you regret all your loneliness?
I really give this EP 4 1/2 stars but there is no button for that. That being said, this cd is a great piece of rock music from a band signed to the SoCal label of Drive-Thru records. For those who think of New Found Glory when they hear Drive-Thru, be not shyed away. There are no overproduced and pitch-corrected vocals to be found on this CD unlike some other new...

3.0 out of 5 stars Take time and find
This EP from The Early November is a good set of modern rock songs inspired by probably anything that is "Emo". They sound quite similar from the other bands of Drive-thru records and for that it's hard to say if they can stand out and become anything. I think they have the potential if they find themselves as an individual band. I'm not trying to bad mouth the...

I really give this EP 4 1/2 stars but there is no button for that. That being said, this cd is a great piece of rock music from a band signed to the SoCal label of Drive-Thru records. For those who think of New Found Glory when they hear Drive-Thru, be not shyed away. There are no overproduced and pitch-corrected vocals to be found on this CD unlike some other new so-called "punk rock" bands (i.e. Simple Plan). Singer/guitarist Ace Enders' vocals soar more freely and sometimes bring thoughts of Thursday's Geoff Rickley such as on the awesome "I Want To Hear You Sad" (the song from which the EP takes its title). I guess some of this could be construed as "emo", but I don't think anyone really knows what that is anyway. Mostly it's just good rock and roll. Thrashing guitars are great on tracks like "Every Night's Another Story" and "All We Ever Needed", while I also enjoy the more acoustic stylings of songs like "Sunday Drive" and "Come Back". The only soft spot here is "We Write the Wrong" which is mediocre to begin with and then drags on for 4 more minutes after you think it's over. The enhanced portion of the cd includes home video of Ace performing a song called "Open Eyes" in his basement. That song is one of their best and should have been included, but I hear it will be on the next album. A very excellent acoustic version of the EP is available only on the Drive-Thru website and it includes two songs not found here.
All in all, The Early November will thoroughly rock you and make you relate to some lyrics. Not bad for a first offering and I definitely look forward to their full-length release due out, when else, early November.

4.0 out of 5 stars A strong debut from a relatively young band..., November 5, 2002
This review is from: For All of This (Audio CD)
Mmm, so. The Early November just released "For All Of This". Drive Thru Records latest release. And it's wonderful . I wouldn't say earth-shattering or ground-breaking, but there's talent enough. It's definitely worth your money. There's eight tracks (a total running time of 31 minutes, 55 seconds), which is an excellent amount for an EP, and all of them are well done. I believe the stand-outs are:

-Track 2: "I Want To Hear You Sad" (the EP title was taken from a lyric on this one)

-Track 3: "All We Ever Needed" (tons of energy)
-Track 5: "Take Time And Find" (Ace's vocals just...soar)
-Track 6: "Ashala Rock" (creative guitar working, and the vocals have their moments)

All in all, I'd say it's an excellent debut. If you're looking for comparisons, I'd say the lead singer's (Ace's) vocals are extremely similar to that of Name Taken's vocalist, Chad, and Days Away's vocalist, Keith. The music follows suit, and you can compare the three bands easily. If you like TEN, I strongly suggest checking out both of the other bands.

Oh, and if you're more into acoustic driven rock, an acoustic version of five songs from the EP is available through DTR's website.

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome debut from a promising new band, February 11, 2003

The Early November, Drive Thru's latest signing, beats most of it's emo and punk-pop brethren with it's lyrics alone. The songs are delivered with riveting emotional voices and a fine balance of power and delicacy. This is the best new emo act I've heard in awhile, using emotion and non-linear arrangements but plenty of melody as well, which, in my opinion, is something Thursday, TBS and The Beautiful Mistake all too often lack. Their soongs are also much more diverse and less derivative and produced than New Found Glory, Good Charlotte or The Starting Line. I would place their sound somewhere between "Clarity"-era Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional. They also have an excellent acoustic EP out, available only on the Drive-Thru website. Highlights include the cathartic opener "Every Night's Another Story", the melodic "I Want to Hear You Sad" and the hushed "Come Back", although all of the songs are excellent. Buy this album today, you will not be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cool mix of emo and punk, August 13, 2003
By
This review is from: For All of This (Audio CD)
The thing I think really stood out for this relatively new bands first album is the fact they take really good emo-style lyrics and pair them up with a cross between punk/rock/emo vocals and music.

The alb starts out with one of my fave tracks, the decidely Dashboard Confessional sounding "Every Nights Another Story" a nice acoustic start to the cd. Next we have "I Want To Hear You Sad' which isn't really a stand-out for me. After that is the pop-punk contrast sounds of "All We Ever Needed".

Next is "Sunday Drive" another mellower track with sweet guitars and vocals. In comparison "Take Time To Find" is more of a thrasing head-banger song that screams agony. "Ashala Rock" isn't bad but its not my fave. Same to "Come Back" but both songs are worth a listen. The album finishes with a huge long song (in comparsion to the others) that is a drawn-out punkish-ballad, Something Corporate style that is a nice finish to the cd.

(the) Early November has a bright future in front of them as they hone their skills in the future and release a longer album. I gave this one four stars because while I found the music pretty good and well-chosen, I found it to be a bit mimicking of other bands at times, and the lyrics are a bit tough to decipher. Regardless, give them a listen, and look around for their extra tracks if you can find em!

5.0 out of 5 stars CD List/Small Review, November 7, 2002

This review is from: For All of This (Audio CD)
This cd is a really good new release by Drive-Thru records. probably one of the best independant record companies left. This EP is a good showing of what this up-and-coming band has to show. With good guitar riffs, and awesome vocals, I think this group will be going somewhere.

1. Every Night's Another Story
2. I Want To Hear You Sad
3. All We Ever Needed
4. Sunday Drive
5. Take Time To Find
6. Ashala Rock
7. Come Back
8. We Write The Wrong

5.0 out of 5 stars The Early November is awesome, July 17, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: For All of This (Audio CD)
The Early november is an awesome band that shouldn't be ignored. You can label them what you want, they range from slow and fast paced "emo" songs that capture the best passion in music... or songs like "every nights another story" a great fast paced song. The early november is unlike many of the other Drive-Thru bands, but they still are able to rock, which they do very well. I recommend this album, the early november is awesome...thier acoustic cd is just as good but is only available @ DRIVETHRURECORDS.COM....check the early november out, you love them instantainously...cuz their awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars very nice EP from a young/talented drive-thru band. . ., March 31, 2005

this is the first album released by the early november. the album is about relationships and the lyrics represent that well. this album is amazing for the fact that this is their first cd released. i don't know how to label this band for they have a very distinct sound. if you like emotional/punk music with exceptional lyrics and musicianship then check these guys out. also, check out their acousic ep and their full length "the room's too cold". every song stands out to me on this album so it's definitely worth your $8 bucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best EP ever created, March 27, 2004
This review is from: For All of This (Audio CD)
I wouldn't even consider this an EP, I would spend just as much on this cd then I would on anything else. Which makes it all the more worth while to buy. All the songs are awesome, except maybe 'Come Back'. My favorite song would have to be 'I want to hear you sad', followed closely by 'Take Time and Find', 'Ashala Rock', 'Sunday Drive' and 'Everynight's another story'. Definetely buy this cd, it is worth so much more than the 10 or less dollars you pay for it.

I'm not a big fan of Drive Thru, but after hearing this I changed my mind. This band has a lot of potential. The best
tracks were "I went to hear you sad," and "We write the wrong."
