Book Description

May 1, 2011
Adjusting to life as a vampire hasn't been easy for Cynthia. Her partner murdered, stalked by a demented preacher-turned-vampire hunter, and forced to move across country from North Carolina to Irvine, California, Cynthia tackles undeath one battle at a time. With the help of her devoted grandmother, trusted brother, and Josie, a distracting runaway, Cynthia comes to realize that it is not walking in sunshine that makes a person human, and living in the shadows might shed light on the things most important to her survival-family, love, and controlling her thirst for blood.

More About the Author

Sarah E. Glenn, a product of the suburbs, has a B.S. in Journalism, which is redundant if you think about it. By day, she works for the University of Kentucky. By night, she battles banality by writing weird stories. Several have appeared in mystery and paranormal anthologies, including G.W. Thomas' Ghostbreakers series, Futures Mysterious Anthology Magazine, and Fish Tales: The Guppy Anthology.

Sarah developed strong ideals from her parents, a salesman turned missionary (redundancy runs in the family) and a social worker. Her knowledge of bureaucracy and infighting stem from working in her local police department, her university, and political volunteering. She discovered Kolchak, comic books, fantasy role-playing games, and her lovely wife on her own.

Story with a bite May 3, 2011
By TerryB
Format:Paperback
Astronomy Professor Cynthia Leach is a vampire. She has to move from her home in North Carolina to evade vampire hunters. While she is driving to California to join her family, she encounters a young girl, Josie, being attacked. Cynthia rescues Josie and takes her with her. Josie learns along the way that Cynthia is a vampire, so the family offer her a good home to keep her quiet. It's safer for Cynthia that way too. When Cynthia begins work at the university, she has problems trying to adjust her working hours to do only night classes. This is only the beginning of her problems though. Some residents of the gated community that her grandmother has made a home for them all in, are looking for any excuse to get them out for no apparent reasons. Cynthia is also having problems finding people to feed from. But to top it all, the vampire hunters have caught up with her. Will Cynthia be able to stay one step ahead and avoid permanent death?

A Modern day vampire story with all the excitement you would want and expect. The story of the vampire Cynthia and her dysfunctional family. The thrill of the chase between the hunters and the hunted and how a vampire juggles between life and unlife. Told with a great deal of humor, with romance thrown in for good measure. Neatly sewn up at the end but leaving an option for a sequel. Well, I can hope.

A fast, funny read! When Cynthia is turned as a vampire, she discovers a whole new world! She can't eat garlic, gets burned by holy water and forgets to eat, but a SoCal veteran vamp (and Cynthia's brother's main squeeze)gives her the direction she needs to make her new life (as a vampire and as a SoCal resident living in a gated community) work. Throw in a crazed vampire hunter and his cohorts, the worst nosy neighbor ever and a new job that may require some daytime work and you're off on an adventure! The gated community of Slippery Elm will never be the same after Cynthia and her extended family take up residence. Sarah Glenn has written a story that will resonate with any one who's tried to balance life, love and the pursuit of a good meal!

All This and Family, Too April 7, 2012

Cynthia Leach has quite a few problems in her life - she was turned into a vampire by her ex-lover, chased across the country with her family by vampire hunters out for revenge, a new rescue, and now she has to adjust to a new neighborhood and new job. She's got her work cut out for her!

Ms. Glenn has done an excellent job of piquing your interest in Cynthia and her 'unlife' from the beginning of the book. I love the interaction between and the growth of the characters as the story progresses. The humor, drama, action, and romance kept me engrossed in Cynthia's story until the very end. I loved to hate the neighborhood association lady and the backward vampire hunters!! Overall, a fun and relaxing read!
