Great pop, great band, great record!,

"See My way" stes the pace for the record. solid classic pop with a razor sharp guitar sound and adrenaline rush! "Keep Watching the Skies" is my favorite song on the record, and great pop songwriting at it's best. If you are a Dickies Fan or this is your first Dickies purchase, you will not be disappointed. This is a must for your collection. There is the classic sense of humor the Dickies are known for with "Howdy Doody in the Woodshed", "Courtin' Courtney", and "My Pop the Cop", and "Whack the Dalai Lama". Even the live classic "Nobody but me" is here! Buy it! You'll like it!

IF STUART COULD TALK... HE'D SAY " BUY THIS ALBUM!",

Easily the bands best record since Stukas over Disneyland. The album is kinda short considering a few of the tracks are from their last Ep and single but the new songs are just incredible. Stan Lee getting married and Leonard Graves getting sober seem to have given the band some new life and new material <not that songs about drugs and masturbating will ever lose their charm!> "He's Courtin Courtney" and "Howdy Doody in the Woodshed II" sound like "classic" Dickies tunes, while "See My Way" and "It's Huge" show that while their setlist and onstage jokes may be as old as the hills, their songs are still current and contemporary.Hope the worlds greatest punk band doesn't take 5 more years for their next record <but sadly, their track record indicates otherwise> ....

This new music starts out easy going for about five seconds but it's only the calm before the storm. After that it's an onslaught of total power not heard since their Dawn of the Dickies and Incredible Shrinking Dickies albums from the old days.Who would have thought that these bad boys from the valley could still come up with a gem like this.Every track is a 100% gold.Keep watching the skies is a new pop classic that builds into Free Willy a great song about an out of work actor that's 30 days out of rehab that just so happens to be a whale, the harmonies are flawless on this track, amazing! I could go on & on but the best thing to do is discover it all for yourself,BUY THIS NOW!!!

I love The Dickies so much, and own all of their albums. I must say though this one is my least favorite. Out of the 14 songs, I like about seven. That's not bad, but in my opinion the Dickies should of made this album better, espcially for the amount of time they worked on it. The album is okay - very average when compared to The Dickies. Nothing special in the Dickies collection.

Put this newest Dickies record on the ol' turntable set the cruise control on 33 1/3 and let 'er rip! This is punk's best band at their finest teaching kids and neighbors there was punk before Blink had numbers, before the sun came up for Green Day, or before Offspring took their first bounce. This CD starts off with a delicious mix of Vaudville sound/80's pure punk song and doesn't look back. Though each and every song is noteworthy, my personal favorite is Donut Man, and a tie for second place belongs to Whack the Dalai Lama, He's Courtin' Courtney (and just try to count it off..), and Howdy Doody in the Woodshed. But then again, maybe Nobody But Me should be #2... or Sobriety, or Marry Me Ann.. Dave Teague's guitar licks are tasty and never over-done. Mandolin in punk rock?!? Uhhh.... yep! These guys make it work! The new stuff from Stan and Leonard is so-LID !! It's Huge is a taste of original Dickies' stuff, and a fitting close to their best album since.... well, it's their best album PERIOD! No keeding... this is destined to be on future "If You Were Stranded On A Desert Island, etc" lists!

If it's been a while since you've had a new fave Dickies album, try this one. Very original (not a ton of covers) and very classic perfect Dickies...Stan and Leonard doing it right - way better than Idjit Savant, in my opinion. The production and performance is so tight, so clean and so huge. The more I listen to it the more I love it.

Page/Plant ...Jagger/Richards... got nothing on Lee/Phillips,
This review is from: All This & Puppet Stew (Audio CD)
I just think that over the years these guys (Stan Lee, Leonard Phillips) have done some great, diverse work, that despite being incredibly good, never took itself that seriously.
Page/Plant, Jagger/Richards,......half the stuff those guys did was derivative, pretentious, drug-addled, and retarded (drug- addled, retarded in a bad way, as opposed to the drug-addled, retarded brilliance of the Dickies....) I'll take what Stan Lee and Leonard Phillips did any day. Why can't these guys be rich and famous too? I hope this wasn't their last studio album, but given the fact that seemingly no one cares about their music, it wouldn't surprise me. What a world.

You really gotta hand it to The Dickies. They are one of the few original punk bands from the good ol' days that's still releasing cds. Puppet Stew is kind of a letdown after the awesome Idjit Savant, but it's still very good. I guess I set my standards high considering they put out new material every 6 years or so. Kind of like the Stanley Kubricks of punk rock. They certainly don't sound as old as they look. Leonard is starting to look like my uncle Bob. They don't play around with different sounds here, it's pretty straightforward uptempo punk rock. In fact, I dare say it actually sounds a little like contemporary punk rock. But it's the Dickies, and I think they've earned to right to do whatever the hell they want now, right? Plus the humor is turned down a notch-not alot, but a notch. This won't distract you from the catchiness of the music. Worth a look for Dickies fans. Hell, worth a look for folks who aren't Dickies fans.

Just goes to show the other 'new' popular punk bands what its all about! After a week or so of aural attention I can't get this out of my head. First play through See My Way was my stand out track (yes a cover but no-one has ever done a cover like The Dickies)now its every track I couldn't pick a favourite if I tried. Yes we have heard Nobody But Me and My Pop The Cop before but hey vinyl gets worn out so I'm not too bothered by that.
