4.0 out of 5 stars Four tales of contemporary erotic romance.
This anthology is described as being "Tales of Erotic Romance." It has varying degrees of success.

STRANGER IN MY BED by Suzanne Forster is about a reclusive woman who gets caught up in a computer game involving a mysterious man. Is he just part of the game-or real? I found the story dark and confusing. It was not really sensual and the story line so-so.

NO MERCY by Thea Devine is about a couple who were married when they were younger, but are now divorced. He has come back to town to claim her again. Thus begins the game of cat and mouse. I did not find the heroine very likable. I thought one of her reasons for divorcing the hero made her seem self-centered. The story was sensual, but I did not enjoy the story very much. The heroine should have been made more sympathetic.

SATISFY ME by Lori Foster was my favorite in the book. It is about a woman, with two friends, who make a bet regarding a porn shop and its customers. She tells the others her make believe fantasy, not realizing that a male coworker overheard. He is secretly in love with the heroine and will do anything to win her. Even if it means fulfilling her fantasy in a way that will leave you chuckling. The story was definitely sensual and satisfying to me. Ms. Foster knows how to write a great short story. One good reason to buy this anthology is for this enjoyable story.

SOMETHING WILD by Shannon McKenna is by a new author for me. It is about a woman who is experiencing financial and love life problems. She is on the road headed towards a casino trying to solve her financial problems. A mysterious man on a motorcycle seems to be following her. They meet and start a steamy sexual relationship with seemingly no future. I found the heroine and hero not to be consistent in what they wanted. He pursued her, caught her, then she dropped him. Then she seemed vulnerable and he got dominating with her. It was a bit of a surprise that they finally got back together in the end. It was a good story, but a little uneven. Definitely the most erotic of the four stories.

This anthology is worth it for the stories by Lori Foster and Shannon McKenna. If you are looking to curl up on a cold night with some hot reading, then pick this up.

Anthologies are always tricky because you never know what you're going to get. Sometimes it's a great find: many times you buy it for one author and discover someone new. This anthology is almost like two-in-one, because two of the stories (Foster/McKenna) are very hot, with extremely erotic and spicy themes, while the other stories feel like they belong in another type of anthology altogether because they're bland.

Thea Devine (one of the queens of erotic romance) is extremely and surprisingly toned down in her effort, which I thought was weak compared to other novellas by her. The Suzanne Forster story did absolutely nothing for me, and I don't think it belonged in an erotic anthology - a sensual one, maybe. I thought it was choppy, hard to follow, and kind of creepy.

I've found Lori Foster to be hit-or-miss as a category author, but this story is well-done, and very sexy, with some believable and unexpected twists. I loved the hero in particular.

Shannon McKenna is a new writer of erotic romance and good for her, because her story was my favorite of the four! It was very sexy, edgy and different. The hero and heroine seemed like a good match and their love scenes were... wow.

If you like good erotic romance, then buy this for the McKenna story and enjoy the Foster novella as a bonus. If you're trying erotic romance for the first time, try the Captivated or Fascinated anthologies first because they're more complete and better overall.

4.0 out of 5 stars wow!!!! Shannon McKenna & Lori Foster, October 10, 2001
By
This review is from: All Through The Night (Paperback)
First let me say that I purchase anything written by Lori Foster as soon as it is released. I enjoy her books. In purchasing this book, I have found another author who's story hooked me.
Let me reveiw the book in the order the stories are written.

1.Stranger in her Bed by Suzanne Forster - Then story was kinda confusing with a computer sex vidio game and several different names used by the hero.

2.No Mercy by Thea Devine - This story is about a couple that meet again after being divorced for 7 years.

3.Satisfy Me by Lori Foster - When a sex shop open up across the road from where they work, Asia and Cameron meet and the fun starts. This book will have you laughing aloud with the little "misunderstanding" between the couple.

4. Something Wild by Shannon McKenna - A cute flirtation between a woman driving across county and a motorcycle hunk who follows her. I think this was my favorite.

I have to say that the first 2 stories were ok, the last 2 were really great. I have added a new name to my "list of authors I look for whenever I shop" and its Shannon McKenna. All I can say is WOW!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Stories, July 12, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: All Through The Night (Paperback)
It seems this book might be the precursor to the "Bad Boys" series and it's definitely worth a read.

"Stranger in Her Bed" is about an agoraphobic software desinger who wakes up one night to discover her digital fantasy man is in her house. It's erotic and wildly imaginative, but the writing style gave me a headache. It's hard to know what's going on, but maybe that's because the story is told from Kerry's viewpoint, and she's mildly psychotic.

"No Mercy" is yet another story about a man and woman who once were madly in love but then it fell through, and yet they give it one more shot. Who'd be dumb enough to do that in real life? The characters are weak and unbelievable and the steaminess factor is a no show. Sad, because Thea Devine is normally a great author.

"Satisy Me" is the first in a series of three short stores, the next two plaid out in the "Bad Boys" series. It's a brilliant idea, great writing, and it toally draws you in. It's slightly absurd though how virginal the heroine is, but that's half of Ms. Foster's trademark. A worthy read.

"Something Wild" is dark and unelievably erotic. Annie is fleeing a bad knock from life in a crummy car and borrowed time. On the road to Lousinanna she meets dark and sexy Jacob, a biker dude extraordinaire. Wow, did this story have possibilities. And I was glued to the plot, couldn't put it down. It gets weird, the lne between "ravish" and "rape" seems dangerously thin at points and the heroine seems really childish. but it keeps Annie fleshed out and I've gone back to read this story time after time.

It's totally worth checking out, the stories are all fairly dark and erotic and overall good.

3.0 out of 5 stars sorry but only average, May 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: All Through The Night (Paperback)
Ok, I brought this book because on the cover it said "EROTIC anthology" but I found that most of the stories can be easily be considered to be regular romance novels. The only story that is EROTIC romance would probably be "Something Wild" by Shannon McKenna.
The first story by Suzanne Forster called "Stranger in her Bed" was good but the author didn't quite convince me in several instances- When supposedly software designer Kerry Houston is scared to go out of her house and didn't for a long time because of her "thuggy" neighborhood. or when Kerry is pissed/burnt at/by the "hero", Joe Gamble just because he supposedly showed his assistant her email (her email which doesn't really make sense as well). or when Joe Gamble takes on so many different disgusts to get her when he doesn't even know her at all. I don't want to give it away but my god...I've come to the conclusion that he is a stalker.
The 2nd story is by Thea Devine and it is called "No Mercy". Basically a divorced couple, Regan and Bobby Torrance, has a 2nd chance at love when they meet for the first time after 7 years apart. I was really disappointed at this story since I'm a big Devine fan but I frankly don't understand why the hell Angela, Regan's best friend and Bobby's sister, is trying frantically to keep them apart and practically has a heart attack whenever she thinks they might be getting back together. Then in the end, Tony, Regan's boss who has a huge crush on her, hooks up with Angela after they both realize they can't keep Regan and Bobby apart- I'm screaming WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST GET TOGETHER IN THE 1ST PLACE??? Devine's traditionally streamy skanky sex is extremely toned down, bland blah~ and the character's motivations are not explained clearly.
"Satisfy Me" by Lori Foster was better overall then the previous two- it was humorous especially with the butt spanking bit. A sex shop opens and Asia Michaels and her friend decide to find mates in the sex shop. Cameron overhears their plan and plans carefully to make sure Asia "accidentally" meets him. In short- good but forgettable.
The best story of the anthology DEFINITELY has to be "Something Wild" by Annie Simon. Usually I'm not turned on motorcycle leather guys or roadside romances but this one is very intriguing. Annie Simon is driving in her old car after running away from an abusive relationship and while on the road a passing Motorcyclist, Jacob follows her and flirts with her. Its a sexy and romantic story actually but I find that Annie is just too stubborn for me. I'm a feminist and TOTALLY support the idea that women should be financially independent but at a certain point even I was yelling for her to just accept his help, which was so obviously fueled by his concern for her. I didn't understand why she was like "I want you to leave, no stay, no leave, no stay, nono leave, nooo~ stay" the whole time. Besides her two character flaws, the story was excellent complete with STREAMY sex scenes without any sign of "love grottos" or "moist humid caves" in sight. I think Brava Kensington has another star amidst. I'm tempted to buy her next book!

I really liked this book of anthologies. There are four stories..........And all of them very Sexy and extremely seductive.

Stanger in Her bed by Suzanne Forster- I didn't get into this one much but I am not into computer games and such.

No Mercy by Thea Devine- I loved this story of seperated lovers and rekindled love with some cool twists. Let me just say very Hot. I read this one twice!! I will pick up more of this authors work.

Satisfy Me by Lori Foster-This story has sister stories in other anthology books by Lori Foster put out by Brava and I loved them too. It was very sexy and very hot about two people needing love the right person in the wrong way. If you like great characters a funny story and great sex you will like most anything Lori foster writes.

Something Wild by Shannon Mckenna- A story about the chase and what to do once you've caught your prey. Very Hot.

This is an anthology of four erotic romances, published by Kensington who published "Captivated" and "Fascinated" but where as those stories were all historicals these are all contemps. If you like these kind of stories also don't miss the Secrets stories (volumes 1-7) by Red Sage Publishing (look up Angela Knight, who is my favorite Secrets author...)
STRANGER IN HER BED by Suzanne Forster is about a softwear designer who has a bad experience at work and becomes afraid to leave her house. She is testing a computer game called "discover the secret, sensual you" with a very sexy guide....who shows up at her door.
NO MERCY by Thea Devine is about a woman whose ex-husband of 7 years unexpectedly shows up in her life.
SATISFY ME by Lori Foster is about 3 friends who make a daring bet when a sex shop opens in their town.
SOMETHING WILD by Shannon McKenna is about a woman who is looking to get another chance in life. She is on a long road trip and meets up with a very sexy motorcycle rider.
I thought they were all great erotic romance stories. I liked some better then others but I did like them all!

I would have given 5 stars, but the first story "Stranger In Her Bed" by Suzanne Forster was in a word... Huh?. By the time I understood it, it was over.

The other three were very good. My favorite was Lori Foster's "Satify Me", a very delicious story, understandable yet with enough twists to keep it interesting. I hope this is the beginning of a series?

"No Mercy" by Thea Devine was good, and "Something Wild" by Shannon McKenna is aptly named. An excellent story.

I can honestly recommend this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars All around great book!, October 11, 2001
This review is from: All Through The Night (Paperback)
I really liked three of the four stories out of this great anthology (the reason why there is a 4 instead of a 5). In my opinion Lori Foster's Satisfy Me was the best out of them, it is very fast paced, fun, sexy, funny story. Once again Ms. Foster has brought us a terrific short story, she has a great ability to bring you into a story and let you know the characters well enough that even though it is a short story it never feels rushed. Shannon McKenna's Something Wild comes in a close second, she has a very sexy, fast moving, emotional story that even thought he characters are virtually strangers you are able to see why their feelings grow so fast. Suzanne Forster's Stranger in Her Bed was a little different, but I did enjoy it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the envelope being pushed within the romance genre and anyone who hasn't read Lori Foster before, you must pick up this book and see why she is fast becoming one of the best authors on the block.
