Metronome as Metaphor,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: All Through The Night (MP3 Download)
Cyndi Lauper rejuvenated New Wave synthesizer music during the 80's with her spirited vocals and perky accompaniment. While many hold "True Colors" or "Time After Time" as her greatest achievements, I look off the familiar path (just like her music) to "All Through Night". Demonstrating her vocal range, Lauper woos the song like the cascading instrumentation that accompanies her. Inventively, the lyrics refer to the rhythmic motion of a metronome, a metaphor for the movement of love. Similar to ABBA's "Andante Andante" in approach and theme, this single gets my vote for one of the great hair-raising achievements from the eighties catalogue. As colorful as her debut C.D. cover, Cyndi is truly brilliant here.
