Book Description

July 8, 2003
Annie Lockwood is testing Time. She’s traveled through it before, but always at Time’s bidding. Now she is asking Time to take her to the year 1899, when Strat is in Cairo. But Time doesn’t like to be tested. In what feels like a cruel joke, Annie is transported to ancient Egypt, thousands of years before Strat was born — to a world far removed from the one she knows. Meanwhile, in 1899, Strat is photographing the same pyramids that Annie walks among. But while Strat eagerly awaits Annie’s arrival, another visitor arrives: his father, Hiram Stratton, Sr., has come to Egypt to collect his son.
Powerless, Annie and Strat both look to Time. Can its force, which brought them together once, help them find each other again?

Amazon.com Review

The romantic time-travel series by the popular Caroline Cooney (Both Sides of Time, Out of Time, Prisoner of Time) continues with this fourth volume, in which the lovers, Annie and Strat, are again out of sync through the centuries. From modern times Annie sets out to find Strat at the Egyptian pyramids in 1899, where she suspects he is working as a photographer for an archeological dig. But Time overshoots the mark, and she ends up in ancient Egypt, where she is walled into a tomb as an official sacrifice! Meanwhile, Strat has his own troubles when his evil father shows up and frames him for grave robbing. Will the two time-crossed lovers ever find each other again? A fun, fast-paced read. From Publishers Weekly

The time-travel series that began with Both Sides of Time adds another breathlessly romantic whirl through the centuries. Experienced time-traveler and 20th-century high-schooler Annie ventures into New York City to see an exhibit of Egyptian art in which she hopes to find a photograph of Strat, her lost 19th-century love. With any luck, seeing Strat's image will magically jolt Annie back through time. The jolting works a bit too well: instead of stopping in Strat's era, Annie journeys all the way to ancient Egypt, where she is taken in (… la Moses in the bulrushes) by the pious yet independent-minded Renifer. Meanwhile, back in the 19th century, feisty Camilla Mateusz disguises herself as a young man and goes to work for a private detective. Assigned to hunt down Strat on behalf of his evil father, Camilla ends up in Egypt, at the dig where Strat works as a photographer. Narrated in the author's characteristically breezily, intimate style, a series of swoopy, swoony plot twists links the various characters and time periods. Although the flap copy indicates that this installation will conclude the series, its end (featuring Annie's nascent relationship with Strat's great-grandnephew) certainly doesn't rule out a sequel. Ages 12-up. (Oct.)of Time; Out of Time and Prisoner of Time sport a new design that connects all four.

4.0 out of 5 stars soo glad she wrote a fourth one, December 9, 2001
By
Amber (O'Fallon, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: For All Time (Hardcover)
I had no idea Clooney was writing a fourth one! Just walking though the the book store one day and... huh..All of TIME. Anyways, assuming most of you have read the previous three or plan to....
The story is centered around Strat and Annie(thankfully!)and takes place completely in Eygpt at the pyramids. It includes a lot of eygptian history, which is cool especially if you know a lot about it. On the flip side, I missed the East coast, the ball gowns, carriages, etc.
Like the previous books, new characters enter the story and narrate their own chapters. At first, it was kind of slow and I was eager to find out how their stories would to relate to each other. If you absolutely adore Strat and Annie, it might be a bit frustrating, I admit to reading a little faster when it wasn't Strat or Annie. The two new main ones are Camilla and an Egyptian girl. Annie has her own adventure way back in time(before Strat's time)while Camilla, a poor girl given a chance to get revenge on Hiram Stratton Sr., is in 1899 with Strat. Many interesting twists in the plot.
I read this book in one day and would definately say it's better than Prisoner in Time. If one thing bothered me it was that Strat and Annie are separated too much of the time. There are some sweet moments though(Strat still has the lock of hair!)and the ending(which is kinda a "kick") left me teary eyed.
It seems like Clooney left some room for another book? It gives some closure, but not enough. Geez, she could make a whole other series out of it. okay, I won't say any more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hmm..., October 26, 2003
This review is from: For All Time (Mass Market Paperback)
I thought this was a very good story. I really enjoyed the Eygptian and Camilla plots, but I don't think they should have been in the Time series. It would have made a really good seperate book. The reason I say this is because, I missed the old characters in the time series. It seemed like they were just written in there as a side note. Annie and Strat weren't together enough and I missed Devonny. Itwould have been better if it focused on them more. Also, I didn't understand the ending. Was a reincarnated Strat really supposed to take the place of the original? They weren't the same person and I thought it was disapointing that Annnie settled for this second version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Time Travel and Ancient Egypt Blended in an Exciting Book, June 22, 2002
This review is from: For All Time (Hardcover)
Time travel, ancient Egypt, museums, and the pyramids...these are the things that fill the pages of "For All Time." In the last book of Caroline Cooney's Time Travel Quartet, Strat is working on an archaeological dig in at the Egyptian pyramids, and Annie pleads with Time to take her there. She visits a museum exhibit dealing with ancient Egypt, sure that Time will let her be with Strat. But in the present day, she meets a boy who claims to be a great-great nephew of Strat's...and when Time finally takes her away, she finds herself in ancient Egypt, amid more danger than she thought possible...Caroline Cooney's writing is perfect for this book-brisk enough to keep the reader's interest yet include precise, effective descriptions. The story is told from the viewpoint of many different characters, making it a multi-dimensional novel. I loved reading about ancient Egypt...it made the book very exotic and Annie's reactions to a dramatically different culture were realisitic and at times, entertaining. This book will keep your attention as you "journey" through Egypt and wonder when (and if) Strat and Annie will meet, and if Annie will ever survive the danger in ancient Egypt.
