More About the Author

When inspiration, dedication and motivation meet head on, great things happen. When they met in the head of Jonathan Yates, they created a maverick entrepreneur who would go on to win awards, praise and accolades for his skill at grasping the concept of successful business.
Jonathan founded Santeau in his back bedroom and sold the business 4 years later. Through dogged tenacity and unshakable self-belief, Jon has appeared in the national press and intentional radio on countless occasions, once having his top ten tips for business success compared to those of business mogul and chairman of TV show The Apprentice, Sir Alan Sugar.

In the Sunday Times, Businessman and Dragon's Den stalwart Peter Jones praised Jonathan for his business instinct, saying "it won't be long before he gets a loyal following."

Jonathan is the Author of "All Time Essentials for Entrepreneurs" ISBN: 9781906465476 (Wiley/Capstone). All Time Essentials is a miscellany of essential facts, tips and advice that every entrepreneur needs to know to be successful. Written in the knowledge that entrepreneurs need to find valuable information quickly, this book harnesses the energy and inspiration of several books and provides the instant gratification that appeals to this market.

In an effort to get more people involved, Jonathan has written "FREESOURCING: how to start a business with no money" ISBN: 9781906465803 (Wiley/Capstone).

An accomplished athlete, Jonathan was keen to discover a way of keeping properly hydrated. In training for a gruelling marathon across the Sahara Desert, he was struck with the idea for WAHOO. Jonathan invented a product that when added to refilled water bottles would become an award-winning healthy alternative to fizzy, sugary soft drinks on the go sold through UK retailers and the Military.

Jonathan has motivated many entrepreneurs into action with his seminars and professional speaking appearances. Using proven techniques and expertise, he shows people how and when to make the necessary adjustments to achieve their goals, and how to capture and control inspiration, dedication and motivation.

Format: Paperback
If you're looking for a book to make you feel good about yourself and build your confidence, then "All Time Essentials for Entrepreneurs: 100 Things to Know and Do to Make Your Idea Happen" can do that for you. It has motivating quotes and simple positive statements. It's also an easy read, with each rule summed up into very small statements and each page containing only a paragraph or two of text.

Unfortunately, it's also riddled with bad advice and vague buzzwords and lingo. For example, "Find Start-up Capital" suggests you use "Credit cards, bank loans, and friends." Two of those three can potentially be disastrous, while there is no mention of finding "angel investors" or the fact that state and federal governments have a multitude of programs to provide financial assistance to entrepreneurs, many of them specifically targeting new businesses. The advice to "Be Agile" points out that large companies take longer to respond to change and states, "You have a competitive edge because you can make those top-level decisions NOW." There's a lot more to agile decision-making than being quick to respond, but none of that is outlined here - it would take up too much space when the print is this huge and the page numbers take up the top third of every page. One entry suggests that if you're working for a company, examine your client base and consider taking them with you and starting over on your own: that's a very good way to get sued by your former employer, as most such jobs require you to sign an employment agreement stating that you will exactly NOT do that.

There are a few good ideas in here: the book explains the concept of "The Elevator Pitch" and makes very generalized suggestions as to how to reach out to your customers or tailor a product to them.
