As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various music supplies and recordings from the 60's and 70's.

"All Too Much" is an expanded edition of Ducks Deluxe's EP called "Jumpin." Although the band never attracted more than a cult following, those that appreciated their no apologies needed Pub Rock and in your face sound have been loyal admirers since circa 1974.

Group member Sean Tyla pulls off the impossible on the first track. Not only do they take on Bobby Fuller's legendary "I Fought The Law" but their harder edge arrangement is as good as the one referred to by the word "DEFINITIVE." Another terrific cover is the presentation of "Here Comes The Night." We have heard Van Morrison play stupendous versions and now you can add another stellar rendition to the timeless Bert Burns composition. Ducks Deluxe mixes a touch of funk with in your face rock and roll and the results make it hard to hear a blemish. "Something's Going On" landing somewhere between Roy Orbison and 1980's Dylan shows they were capable of penning their own tunes. Often described as a working class band, you can hear the sincerity in their sound. This particular track is thankfully offered twice. There is an alternate, which is actually the better of the two. "Moonlight" gives us a taste of rockabilly without losing the pub rock edge. These guys had a job to do most nights and they did it well.

If you haven't experienced the works of Ducks Deluxe this is a good introduction for a couple of reasons. Affording us the two high octane covers will get the listener comfortable the first time around and their own tunes are accessible yet never stereotypical! Before the time bell rings get a taste of the band.
