One of the Best books I've ever read,
By Katia N. Ruiz (Woodhaven, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All True Lovers (Paperback)
All True Lovers is an intelligent and genuine mixture of romance and history. Set in the mid-twenties to mid-thirties, it is the story of two young women from opposite sides of the tracks that find each other and discover the newness of their passionate love for each other. Tackled with the obstacles of time and family, they strive to stay together through-out time.

All True Lovers by Sarah Aldridge
Dr. Sabina Hill comes to know Claire Duane, administer of the Walter Curry (Claire's grandfather) Foundation which funds Dr. Hill's medical clinic for the treatment of young women. Claire, married to her first cousin Philip, being 'beards' for each other, seduces Sabina but because Claire's marriage will not be negated Sabina realizes their affair must end. Since her mother in law's death Claire has become the responsible party for Letty, a musical child prodigy. Events have transpired which force Claire to remove Letty from the only home she has ever known but she does not want to remove her by force. Claire asks Sabina to persuade Letty to move out of the home Walter Curry lived in until his death and made into a museum of art. Sabina befriends Letty and ultimately they find their way into the future together. I truly enjoy reading Aldridge's books. Each one is written with such style and elegance. In this story Sabina's true nature is sought out by Claire, who initiates her into the sexuality of women and subsequently opens Sabina to a richer life. As always in her books there are obstacles to overcome, emotions to be explored and resolved. She is a terrific read. On the hot meter this was a 6; on the love meter it was a 8. **Remember - if you want your favorite authors to keep writing they have to be able to earn a living doing it so if at all possible buy the book NEW. If you're not going to keep it in your collection put it in the recycle bin to make another book.** |
