Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Grammy-nominated Mexican electro-rockers deliver their latest effort. It's the follow-up to a "best of" collection released on EMI. Plastilina Mosh first debuted to the American public at SXSW where they caught the eye of Beck, who financed a recording session through his Bong Load label. That session led to "Aquamosh", the band's debut full-length on Capitol Records, which launched them to platinum sales in Latin America.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lost in Translation, August 27, 2008
Plastilina Mosh is one of my favorite bands, but the new album is disappointing. The problem is, they don't appear to have had a native English speaker help them with their English lyrics, and those lyrics are often just, well, corny. Perhaps what they were trying to express might have worked in Spanish, but the meaning or sentiment just doesn't convey well in English.

There are still some good songs. The best song is My Party. It's a novelty song, but done well and fun to listen to. 2nd is probably Let You Know. A few of the lyrics are a little odd, but the song is very catchy. Pervert Pop song is a close 3rd. This one may grow on me. The real disappointment is Danny Trejo. This songs starts out ROCKING - it could have been one of their best - but halfway in they shift to English and the song just falls flat on its face. I LOVE the first half and HATE the last half (guys - if you read this - please, please fix it!). Jonaz Goes to Hollywood is OK, it might grow on me too. Toll Free has a good sound, but the lyrics are just too awkward.

The band said this is probably their most commercial album. I'm guessing they were targeting the U.S. market with this English-heavy album, but the English lyrics just don't work. I don't find any songs here on par with their earlier hits like Afroman, Nalguita or Te Lo Juro Por Madonna.

5.0 out of 5 stars ¡Viva la Plastlina!, November 22, 2008

I don't have time to write a very thoughtful entry. Suffice to say the 80's-vibe track "Toll Free" is one of the freshest, fun songs I've heard in the past few weeks. I hope the rest of the album is as catchy.
