5.0 out of 5 stars Splendid collection on reportage on the human condition, June 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: All of Us: Selections on Population & Development from the Pages of the Earth Times (Paperback)
I have always found The Earth Times to be a wonderful newspaper covering such critical issues as population, the environment and sustainable human development. This book now gathers together some of the finest articles that have appeared in the newspaper over the last decade. It is highly recommended reading for diplomats, policymakers, students, teachers--everyone who has a stake in the way we live and how our common future is being shaped.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended work of journalism, July 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: All of Us: Selections on Population & Development from the Pages of the Earth Times (Paperback)
As one of those whose writing is included in this anthology, I must say that I feel very proud indeed. My partisanship aside, I speak as a veteran journalist and author: this is a must-read work of journalism--especially for young journalists and general audiences.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice of reportage and opinion, June 19, 1999
By A Customer
I have read The Earth Times for almost a decade now--ever since it was started--and have always been impressed by the newspaper's imaginative coverage of global and local environmental issues. Now some of the best reporting has been put into an anthology, and I must say that the advance copy I received was a sheer delight--a book to savor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly useful anthology on environmental and economic issues, June 11, 1999
By
mmurthy@aol.com (Staten Island, New York) - See all my reviews
This book is well put together, drawing on selections from the pages of The Earth Times, a leading independent newspaper on the human environment that is published daily on the Web and every two weeks in print. You will find well-known bylines such as President Clinton, and A. M. Rosenthal of The New York Times, and you will also find new voices from the grassroots in developing countries. There is detailed reporting on how changes are taking place in emerging societies on issues such as the environment and sustainable economic growth. The editors have done a fine job of selecting material, which should prove useful to experts and laymen alike. Lou Silverstein's design and drawings are simply stunning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful anthology on environment, population, development, June 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: All of Us: Selections on Population & Development from the Pages of the Earth Times (Paperback)
This book is a remarkable collection of writings from The Earth Times, a newspaper focusing on the human environment. Contributors include such well-known names as President Clinton, A. M. Rosenthal, Tom Wicker, Seymour Topping, Soon-Young Yoon, Klaus Schwab (founder and president of the World Economic Forum), Flora Lewis, Frank Vogl, and others. There are also voices from the grassroots, especially in developing countries. "All of Us: Births and a Better Life--Population, Development and Environment in a Globalized World," highlights the central challenges facing our world community: how to ensure environmental security and also promote economic growth. It brings to life the daily drama of development, and underscores that globalization must not leave behind victims in its wake--that we all have a collective responsibility to build a common future. This is must reading for general audiences and specialists alike, and the book should be especially useful to students and teachers.
