I read a lot of mysteries and I often figure them out before the end but could not with All The Way Gone. It was very atmospheric, I felt like I was in Brooklyn when I was reading it and I loved the characters, not in the way that they are all lovable because they are not, but because they were interesting and I kept reading because I wanted to know more about them. It really grabs you and puts you into the story.

From the first page, when Jack Turner emerges from the treeline searching for his missing wife, I was gripped.

But this was not the treeline of Stephen White's Colorado or Stephen Hunter's Arizona - the novel is set in New York City, and opens in Prospect Park. The spirit of Ed McBain looms large.

This is the achingly saddest yet life-affirming mens' book I've read since White's 'Kill Me'. I loved reading it, and I wait keenly for DJ Eldon's forthcoming second novel.

All the Way Gone is a taut, gritty, pageturner. Couldn't put it down. From the first page you want to know: what happened to Jack's wife? The subtext regarding the passage of time and the question of what we're left with when ours is gone adds a poignant layer. Recommend, especially when you're in the mood for some good, dark, urban fiction.

I became part of the story from page 1 and couldn't put it down. I was brought back to New York in way that only a true lover of New York could do. D. James Eldon has a flair for story telling that weaves the reader in. I look forward to the next great work by D. James Eldon.

I just recently became fascinated with Mystery Novels. I was the Romantic Novel reader. A good friend recommended All The Way Gone. I received it on Friday and finished it Sunday morning. Very captivating. The humor when you least expect it kept me laughing out loud.

Excellent Book: Easy read, humor and twisty suspense. All the way gone is our book of the month for our book club. I would recommend All The Way Gone.

I liked this book. I've seen other reviews that have compared it to Gone Girl (which I haven't read yet, but it is on my Nook waiting to be read). There were some scenes that I couldn't really understand why the author had put them in there, how was it relating to the relationship between the wife and the husband and the ending. Sometimes you felt sorry for the husband, other times you felt like he deserved it. The ending was rather sad, but the author wrapped things up nicely.

I can definitely see the potential for spin-offs from this particular book, more into other cases that the police characters that we meet in the book could go into in the future.

As an avid reader, I was more than hooked on D. James Eldon's first novel. The prose is excellent. This is a writer with a great flair for both dialogue and character development. It's a page turner and he left me guessing right to the end. Mr. Eldon does not gravitate toward the predictable and he has the talent and range to leave the reader thinking about the characters long after the book is finished. A great debut. I look forward to more..
