Brenda Lee Sings Everything Well,
By
This review is from: All the Way/Sincerely, Brenda Lee (Audio CD)
Bravo to Ace Records for this fabulous release of two classic Brenda Lee albums. As a child of the rock and roll era, I was pretty unfamiliar with many of the tracks on the Sincerely album...songs considered to be pop standards. I was always more interested in the way Brenda sang the songs than the songs themselves. The rock and roll songs on All The Way are outstanding. Of special interest is the rhumba track, Do I Worry. Brenda's version of Kansas City is second to none. "Big Chance" - "Dum Dum" - "Talkin' Bout You" showcase Brenda as a hot rocker! My favorite cut is "Eventually"...a rock-a-ballad as only Brenda can sing it. Look forward to the remaining 2 releases slated for next year. One can never get enough of Brenda Lee...she's the best!

This review is from: All the Way/Sincerely, Brenda Lee (Audio CD)
This is Brenda Lee's 5th & 6th L.P. from 1961 and 62 on one C.D.
Brenda's management had scheduled to release two of her albums a year, and a new 45 every three months. Brenda's FIFTH album, "BRENDA LEE, ALL THE WAY" was the second release of 1961, and peaked at #17 on the L.P. chart. Her current hit's were - "Dum dum" b/w "Eventually" and were #4 and #56 respectfully. Her manager Dub Allbritten beleived it was important to intertwine 'standards' with Brenda's pop releases for a solid and lasting foundation. The chosen ballads here have a compelling delivery - "All the way", "Someone to love me (the prisoner's song)" and "Tragedy". Brenda's rocks on - "Lover come back to me" - "Talkin' bout you" - "Kanas City". This album is a solid mix, with 7 of the tracks being uptempo - rockers. Brenda's SIXTH album, 'SINCERELY, BRENDA LEE' peaked at #29. This entire album is wonderful listening pleasure. Possibly intended for the cocktail audience. There aren't any of Brenda's hits on this album, but her delivery of these classic's are outstanding!. These songs are a romantic and melancholy line-up that Brenda brings a new and fresh meaning to. Her offering of "How deep is the ocean?" - "I miss you so" - and "I'll be seeing you" are supberb! These are the exact album original recordings, remastered by Ace Records in 2005. ALL 24 tracks on this C.D. are stereo, and sound exceptional! The cover is a 10 page booklet very nicely done on heavy paper, with several photo's and career information to the point of the set. This album remains a must have for Brenda's excellent styling of this beautiful music.

classic early brenda lee album,
By newton lee "louis" "chi-town frenchman" (Hometown, Illinois United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: All the Way/Sincerely, Brenda Lee (Audio CD)
altho both lp's are excellent i am mainly referring to the first of the two-"all the way". i bought this lp in a cut out bin in 1972 after i really started to get into yhe music of miss lee. her voice always cheered me up if i was down.all the cuts are good on this lp but the primary selections are foremost "tragedy" which she sings with the utmost passion, the guitar accompaniment is very moving and her voice glows with it. another good cut is "the big chance" which really conveys the energy she has always had a gift for." d i worry" is also grat and i love the wasy she sings "on the sunny side of the street"
buy this cd for the song "tragedy" alone and you won't be disappointed!
