5.0 out of 5 stars As good as "My Religion"...
What can I say, TNT have done it again! This CD is every bit as good at their previous release, "My Religion". As a matter of fact, I think it's a little more solid from start to finish. With "My Religion", I like the first half of the CD better than the 2nd half. With "All the Way to the Sun", I like it the same from start to finish. Also, the cover of "What A...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the real TNT
Intuition and Tell No Tales are flagship albums for most TNT fans. My Religion gave to the fans what they wanted. In contrast, All the Way to the Sun is a lot more diverse, so there are SOME trademark TNT sounds in there, but most songs feel too different to be as satisfying to listen to. The album doesn't flow as nicely either, because of too much diversity. I really...

Also, the cover of "What A Wonderful World" is simply amazing. If you're a TNT fan, definitley pick this one up. I ordered it directly from the TNT website and they even included a very cool laminated backstage pass! Rock on!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent disc, but..., December 29, 2005

TNT - is there really another band out there that, musically and vocally (especially vocally) continues to turn out great music, disc after disc? Admittedly, "Firefly" and "Transister" were kind of letdowns after the excellent "Realized Fantasies" (with the legendary track "Purple Mountains Majesty"), but then they come back with "My Religion" and now "All The Way To The Sun". While "All The Way To The Sun" is not quite on the same level as "My Religion" it is still an excellent record.

Highlights include the title track, "Sometimes", "Too Late" (questionable lyrics), "Driving", "Ready To Fly" and oddly enough "What A Wonderful World". "Sometimes" is already an International classic. "Too Late" has a wierd lyric in it but is a good tune as is "Driving". "Ready To Fly" is a made-for sure fire radio hit. But, a pleasant surprise is "What A Wonderful World". Tony Harnell's voice makes this Louis Armstrong classic sound well... great. Heck, even your grandmother will like this version...

If you liked "My Religion", which was one of the best, if not the best Pop/Rock/Metal discs of 2004, you will like this new offering. TNT's music grows on you... and grows... and grows...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: All the Way to the Sun (Audio CD)
Norwegian hard rockers TNT follow up their killer comeback album New Religion with another high quality collection of tunes built around the amazing vocals of Tony Harnell. All The Way To The Sun is filled with great performances especially from Ronni Le Tekro on guitars and Tony Harnell on vocals. The sound of the album is absolutely amazing due to the brilliant mixing and mastering from the legendary Tommy Hansen. Highlights include the catchy opener "A Fix", the melodic sound of "Driving", the memorable hit "Sometimes", the modern rock of "All The Way To The Sun", the intruiging cover of "What A Wonderful World", and the Harnell vocal magic of "Ready To Fly". All The Way To The Sun represents a great double shot for TNT fans who loved the sound created on New Religion and was definitely one of the best albums of 2005.

4.0 out of 5 stars Melodic Rock Craftsmen, March 4, 2006
This review is from: All the Way to the Sun (Audio CD)
I absolutely love TNT and have about every release on disc, with the exception of "Knights of the New Thunder", which I have on vinyl. These guys continue to put forth great melodic rock and continue to strive in today's world of "cookie-cutter" new rock bands who have no imagination nor any original ideas whatsoever. Tony Harnell -- explosive, yet melodic! Diesel Dahl -- dynamic drummer! Ronnie Le Tekro -- guitar virtuoso! Morty Black -- I will miss his bass playing!! This is yet another work of art from my favorite all-time melodic rock group!

While not exactly as hard hitting as "My religion", this new one is still an exceptional album with incredibly well crafted songs, exploding the envelope of conventional metal and covering old things in a very fresh and original way. I hope they will find a replacement for the excellent Morty Black. The album follows the format of its 2004 predecessor, but the songs are a little bit different here, keeping things fresh and exciting. TNT is a band that never gets old...

4.0 out of 5 stars End of an Era?, August 3, 2011
This review is from: All the Way to the Sun (Audio CD)
2005's All the Way to the Sun is (if my count is right) the ninth studio album from (mostly) Norwegian melodic rock band TNT, which features the guitar wizardry of Ronnie Le Tekro and vocal powerhouse Tony Harnell.

The band made their return to the melodic rock scene in a big way with 2004's My Religion, and following-up that album was going to be tough. All the Way to the Sun isn't quite as impressive as My Religion, but it's still a very solid melodic rock album. It's an album that reflects the different tastes of the band members, with some hard-hitting metal tracks, some pure AOR songs and some tracks with more of a modern rock vibe. It never loses the core TNT sound though, which is critical. Harnell sounds terrific here, and Le Tekro's guitar work is first rate as always. Standout tracks are the rocking "Too Late" and the melodic "Sometimes," and the cover of the Louis Armstrong staple "What a Wonderful World" is surprisingly good.

Unfortunately, this was the last TNT album to feature Tony Harnell on vocals. Harnell went on to form the excellent Starbreaker, and TNT brought in Shy vocalist Tony Mills for what, until recently, was an unimpressive run of albums. All the Way to the Sun remains a very solid TNT album and a good parting note for the Tony Harnell era of the band. If you're a TNT fan, you'll definitely want to check it out.

Edition Notes: The limited edition version of All the Way to the Sun features a slipcase and a bonus DVD that's die-cut in the shape of a t-shirt.

4.0 out of 5 stars a dynamite farewell . . ., September 30, 2009
This review is from: All the Way to the Sun (Audio CD)
All The Way To The Sun (2005) delivers more of what TNT has been known for, since the Norwegian metal pioneers burst on the American scene in 1988, with their album Tell No Tales. Powered by the high energy vocals of Tony Harnell, and the fretboard wizardry of guitarist Ronni Le Tekro, TNT's music is heavily processed and layered, melodic metal, often with huge choruses. It is usually intriguing, to see what Ronni Le Tekro will pull out of his vast musical bag of guitar tricks. A innovative player, Le Tekro could easily take a ton of extended solos, but he seldom overplays, and usually leaves you wanting more. Completing the band's lineup for this album, is Sid Rigsby on bass, and Morten 'Diesel' Dahl on drums.

After being with the band since 1984, Tony Harnell parted ways with TNT after this album. Should this prove to be Harnell's last recording with the band, it is undoubtedly one of his best vocal efforts, and one of TNT's better albums. Musically the sound is a less heavy, and lyrically a little less serious, than My Religion (2004), making for a mostly enjoyable listen. Harnell is a powerful and creative singer, and these songs feature thoughtful lyrics, and some big poppy, sing-along choruses.

'Save Your Love', with its jumpy riff, squawk box solo, and big vocals may be the liveliest song on the album. 'Too Late', is classic TNT, a midtempo ballad, punctuated with an off the wall solo. 'All the Way To the Sun', is a spacey ride through minor keys, with another punchy solo from Ronnie. 'The Letter', is a emotional tale of pain, deeply accented by Harnell's plaintive vocals. Sparked by Harnell's ballsy vocals, 'A Fix' is constructed of pedal notes, and a few mean minor chords. If the lightly melancholy, Ready to Fly, is indeed Tony Harnell's swan song with TNT, it seems a fitting way for him to depart. Harnell joined the band Starbreaker, while with Tony Mills providing vocals, TNT have continued to record and release albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars EL ALBUM DE DESPEDIDA DE TONY HARNELL, July 27, 2006

"ALL THE WAY TO THE SUN", ES OTRA OBRA MAESTRA DE LOS NORUEGOS T.N.T., EN ESTE DISCO CONTINUAN CON EL SONIDO DE "MY RELIGION" QUE NOS TRAE REMINISCENCIAS DE SUS TRABAJOS "INTUITION", "TELL NO TALES", Y SU MEJOR EPOCA, TONY HARNELL SE MUESTRA EN BUENA FORMA PRINCIPALMENTE EN CORTES COMO "TOO LATE", "DRIVING", "SOMETIMES", MIENTRAS RONNI LE TEKRO NO DEJA DE ASOMBRARNOS CON SUS MAGNIFICOS RIFFS Y SOLOS A LOS QUE NOS TIENE ACOSTUMBRADOS, EL BAJISTA SID RINGSBY CUMPLE BIEN CON SU INSTRUMENTO, MIENTRAS DIESEL DAHL NO DEJA DUDA DE QUE EL ES EL BATERISTA MAS IDENTIFICADO CON EL SONIDO DEL GRUPO. LAMENTABLEMENTE, EL PASADO MES DE ABRIL, TONY ANUNCIO SU SALIDA DEFINITIVA DEL GRUPO Y CON ESTO LA VOZ DE T.N.T. QUEDA COMO UN GRAN LEGADO EN LA HISTORIA DE LA MUSICA DE ESTE GENERO, Y COMO REFERENCIA ADICIONAL EL CANTANTE TONY MILLS EX-SHY ES EL SUBSTITUTO RECIEN ANUNCIADO PARA LA CONTINUIDAD DEL GRUPO, ENHORABUENA AL OTRO TONY, QUE TIENE UNA GRAN RESPONSABILIDAD AL SUPLIR A UN GRAN ARTISTA.

I love everything TNT has put out - from Tell No Tales to Intuition, and from My Religion to this new masterpiece. "All the Way to the Sun" isn't afraid of trying new things. There is even a cover of "What A Wonderful World" here. Granted, it is not as good as the original, but it is still a quality track.

Standout tracks: Too Late, Driving, Me and I, Sometimes, All the Way to the Sun, Ready to Fly.

Rating: 9/10
