I'd heard Mirah many times but the Black Cat Orchestra was new to me. The combination works like coffee and cream; Mirah's voice is really well suited to more traditional instrumentation and the musicianship is beautiful and unique while deeply rooted in various kinds of folk music. The covers of Dylan and Cohen ("Dear Landlord" and "Song of Isaac" respectively)bring something new to the table, and Mirah's originals are pretty nice. I've heard Bella Ciao too many times to get too excited over a new version, but this is as good as any I've heard (bearing in mind that I don't speak Italian). The net effect is a really good record that's sonically soothing but never boring. Recommended.

Such an interesting and amazing record. Not for everyone, but great for anyone who likes similar music, or Mirah herself. It's basically Mirah and her music, but with a few different songs, and a cool jazz-like orchestra on some of them. It stands out from just about anything else out there. A shame so few people know of it. But I guess that's to be expected when a brilliant lesser known artist does a side project.
