This review is from: All Is Well: The Miracle of Christmas in July (Paperback)
I don't think that I could possibly have been so moved by this had I not known poverty, and a good deal of it, from time to time. Peretti knows (as do many who have known the Lord for a long while) that the journey towards compassion is actually a very tough one, join the Lords' school and you may be in for the equivalent of boot camp in the Marine Corps!
Superficially a tale about a little girl who does her absolute level best to rescue her Mum from bills that can't be paid, in fact this is a extremely effective story about hope, and the faithfulness of God. That's a subject which is profound, bears telling as many times as you like anyhow, and very apt for times we now face. The amazing truth is that God is WITH us, and has promised NOT to desert us. Even as I'm writing this, I remember so much about how prayer has changed our lives, given us hope, and that the words of those promises so long ago helped us when the cupboards were empty. And God doesn't fail. The story shows how the grace of God ignites compassion and imagination, hits the decks and everyone gets somehow changed; thats the way He is; you can't get of the way fast enough! Well, it's just wonderful, that all I can say.

All is Well with Daniel,
This review is from: All Is Well: The Miracle of Christmas in July (Hardcover)
Tremendous story to produce hope in the worst of circumstances. In the story with Daniel, Ruth's son, I think he encourages children to get involved with their family instead of just sitting around watching TV. Daniel's love for his mother shows in his efforts to make her happy. It is a weighty book that discusses tough times. In the end, well lets just say it's a treasure worth finding. The illustrations are photo quality. Terrific book I would highly recommend it to anyone (including a parent) who needs inspiration.

This book is so touching that it makes me cry while I read it to my daughters. It really helps children (and adults too) think about how important it is to share with others. It shows that Christmas isn't just about getting gifts! And, we can share with others all year long. We added it to our home library!

Love this book and couldn't find it in stores; finally ordered it 6 days before Christmas and it arrived in time for a Christmas present. AMAZING! And the gift accomplished what it was for -- encouraging a single mom who was going through MUCH stress. (Didn't realize it would have writing in it but that's fine; makes it more endearing to know that others have been encouraged by it already.)

My Daughter's favorite book,

This review is from: All Is Well: The Miracle of Christmas in July (Hardcover)
This is a fabulous book, full of the true meaning of "love your neighbor as yourself", the struggles of our daily journey, life is not always easy, but it is always good. "All is Well" even when by earthly standards it isn't. My daughters, 7 years apart in age would have me read it to them nearly every night. I have yet to be able to read it through without crying. Chocks me up everytime I read the part of Jenny desperately searching for the ornament. Awesome! Awesome!!
