Disappointed,
By Goldenwing (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews

I special ordered this CD from DH's website, along with a shirt, "Still F... Evil". Shirt looked awesome! And I was all pumped to crack open and check out the new material. I loved the cover artwork on the new CD. DH, graphically, look cool as ever.
Then I listened to the CD. Track after track, I was just waiting for a standout song. And, sadly, never found one through all twelve. Tracks 2."Give It To Me", 5."Alimony", 7."Broken Pieces", 8."All Will Be Revealed", and 12."Muddy Waters" were the best I found. And while those 5 were pretty good, they were just that... "Pretty good". Nothing on this CD reminds me of "Lightning to the Nations". The songs don't sound as Evil, the writing isn't as strong or fierce. It's very hard to bridge the 2 bands. In fact, they are so different I think they shouldn't go under the Diamond Head name. The styles have just changed too much over the years. Maybe the next few releases will improve. The guitar sounds pretty good; however, the drums are pretty weak and uninspiring. Vocals are good, (he sounds a little like Brian Howe, who replaced Paul Rodgers of Bad Company for a couple of CDs), but the song writing is pretty weak. Just, well, something is missing. No awesome tracks, just average or sub-par. Nothing at all like "Sucking My Love, Streets of Gold, Am I Evil, It's Electric, Helpless, Shoot Out the Lights..." Just an average CD. I wish it were more, and I still have faith in Diamond Head, but things will need to improve quite a bit for me to really believe the band I loved so much is really back.

Mediocre with Terrible Sound Quality,
By Rÿan Matthew (Missouri, USA) - See all my reviews

I really don't care for Nick Tart, but I could let that go if the songs were good. Unfortunately, that's not the case since this is a whole album of filler. The worst part is that it sounds like crappy MP3 files with an extremely low bit rate. Come on, now... I can't be the only person to notice this.

Good stuff! Diamond Head's fifth studio album has more of a 70s American biker rock feel than a revival of the NWOBHM sound. This sounds a lot like Montorse's 1973 s/t debut- new singer Nick Tart deffinately recalls a young Sammy Hagar! Their best since "Lighning To the Nations" (although with guitarist Brian Tatler the only original member I would hardly call this a "reunion" effort).
