4.0 out of 5 stars what is wrong with you people
this is adressed to you people who had negative reviews of this song. Janet is not a jazz singer. She doesn't sing classical music. Janet is a POP star. most of her music has been and always will be what people call bubblegum music. Buble gum music at it's best. Bubblegum gum music is not a bad art form. And what most of you fail to realize is that Janet for the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not her best, but quite catchy...
Janet is at that point in her career where none of her singles will be considered a bomb...However I do agree that this is clearly not her best work. Obviously a very used sample (listen to "Glow of Love", by Change & Luther Vandross), but I think the song was made to be light-hearted and fun. The first few times I heard this song, I really loved it, and now...

Janet is a POP star. most of her music has been and always will be what people call bubblegum music. Buble gum music at it's best. Bubblegum gum music is not a bad art form. And what most of you fail to realize is that Janet for the most part created bubblegum music...you see her influence on everyone from Aaliyah, Britney, to christina and every one else. Janet makes POP music. I like this song. I can listen to it and hum to it and i can dance to it. It's an enjoyable experience. It is not a bad song. And her voice sounds better. No, her album will not be the second coming of Jesus Christ, no album ever is. But I have never been disapointed with any album janet has put out and I'm sure I won't be disapointed in this one. Geese. Save the serious critique for music that was meant to be taken seriously. This was crafted for one thing...to be lighthearted and FUN and at this, she succeeds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Basking in "The Glow of Love", March 30, 2001
By

This review is from: All For You (Audio CD)
Janet Jackson has emerged from an obvious dark period of self examination with a celebratory and flirty song that is pop at it's best! The results of all of the introspection of 'The Velvet Rope' record (and no doubt, her newly christened single status) have obviously left Janet feeling refreshed, more alive and freer. You can even hear this new found freedom in her voice. The vocal on "All For You" finds her using more of her range than she's ever utilized before. She sounds lighter and happier. The single contains a sample of "The Glow of Love", which more than a few people are mistakenly attributing to Luther Vandross. Although he did do a version of this song in the 80's, his was a cover. The original was by a group called Change. Nonetheless, it's an inspired choice and the result is a summertime-top-down-wind-in-the-hair pop song that sweeps you up in the sheer joy and fun of it all. Instantly likable and as it's quick ascension up the Billboard 100 attests, a MAJOR hit. Nice work all around from Janet, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. A welcome return for Janet Jackson and an exciting indication of what's to come with the new album. Sounds like the soundtrack to Summer 2001 to me...

5.0 out of 5 stars Janet is Back!, March 28, 2001
This review is from: All For You (Audio CD)
Janet is finally back with a new song, and a new album on the way, both titled All For You. Last summer we were treated with Doesnt Really Matter from NPII, but this is the first song we've heard from one of her albums since 1998's Every Time, from 1997's The Velvet Rope. The album wont be out until April 24th, but its not too long until its released. All For You samples Glow of Love from Luther Vandross, which works very well with the arrangement of this song. This is the CD single of All For You, and it contains 2 tracks: All For You (Radio Edit), and All For You (Video Version). The US will not see a maxi single, but it will be released overseas, so you can import it. This is just a fun song, that will stay in your head, and it will bring a smile to your face. Go out and buy it, because Miss Jackson is back!

Janet's new single is fun, and entertaining. It may not be has great has Doesn't really matter, but is the best song playing on the radio now in days. I can't wait for the album to come out. Janet is still the queen of Pop

4.0 out of 5 stars Got the cd early, April 20, 2001

Writing this on April 20th. I got the Janet cd early because a store in my neighborhood started selling it early. It's a good cd, somewhere between 93's Janet and 97's velvet rope. My problem with the velvet rope was that it followed the same formula as janet. Almost every song on the VR had a similar song on janet. Got till it's gone = That's the way love goes, I get so lonely = anytime anyplace and so on. Not so with this album. It goes it's own route and comes off nicely. I don't really care for the first song, i don't know why, maybe it will grow on me, but it gets better from there. I like every track from 3 to 11. I haven't really listened to the rest of it yet cause I want to take my time and enjoy it. I think their using some knew production techniques cause the cd gives my stereo a sound I didn't know it possessed. Anyway. It's janet. If you are a janet fan, you are going to like it. so when it comes out on the 24th, go buy it. Got it? Good. Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Janet is All For You, April 10, 2001
This review is from: All For You (Audio CD)
Janet Jackson has developed into the pop icon she was "destined" to be, and is coming full circle with this fun and light dance pop gem. Having tackled world issues, liberation, sex, and depression, she is returning to the "bubblegum" she began her career with. Using a slick sample, she has co-written quite the party jam and quite the "destined" hit. Sure to follow in the trail of it's cousin "Doesn't Really Matter", "All For You" is a top pop jam, and no less than what we should expect from Ms. Jackson herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy and has Meaning, April 29, 2001
This review is from: All For You (Audio CD)
This song is amazing, the first time I heard it was at 6 in the morning in February and I literally jumped out of bed. I still can't get enough of it. I really think this is one of Janet's catchiest songs ever. People say this is just a nonsense bubblegum pop song, probably because the lyrics are hard to understand. But if you actually look at the lyrics you find out that this song is a very personal one. Janet talks about how hard it is to find a man now that she is single. A lot of guys want to ask her out but are to intimidated because they think they are no ones compared to JANET JACKSON. She coaxes a man in the song to come up to her and ask her out. If you listen to the lyrics they could only apply to someone like Janet who is famous and people are intimidated of. So the lyrics do have meaning and besides it's a great song to dance to. Also, the cover of the single isn't bad either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buying an LP brings back memories!, January 19, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: All for You [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
The novelty of purchasing an album in 2001 was just too much to pass up. This VINYL release of remixes, as well as the original version, of Janet's hit "All for You" is just something that the few of us that still have turntables can't resist.

The remixes are good for a song that is steeped in the disco 70's. For the uninitiated "All For You" samples heavily from Change's "The Glow of Love," the song that featured a young Luther Vandross on lead vocals.

Janet's updates are smashing with the best being the 10:28-long "Thunderpuss Club Mix". Coming a close second is the seven-minute plus "Rock Mix". Both are perfect for the clubs, as well as a house party.

After almost twenty years, Miss Jackson still knows how to "throw down."
