The book tells the story clearly and concisely; the illustrations (new this year) are colorful and eye-catching, but what sets the book apart are the discussion themes for each of the eight nights -- suggestions for families to chat about while the candles are burning (what it means to be free, gifts and giving, what makes a hero, and more. There's also music and recipes to round out the holiday celebration.

I converted to Judasim 67 years ago and this book, that I got for my great grand children explains the celebration of Hanukkah better than I have ever heard or seen. Thank you for such a lovely, well written, beautifuly pictured book for all of us and our children and grands. I had it sent to me so I could read it and look at it before sending it on and I am so reluctant to send it to Jack and Mimsy - but of course I will. Thank you again.

Sometimes things are not quite what you expect when you order through the mail. This book came on time and the context was exactly what I expected.

Of all the books I read and purchased in my quest to find one just right, this one does the trick! I am an avid History buff, so correct history is very important to me. This book tells the truth of history, but in a less disturbing way for younger children. I have used it 2ce in teaching opportunities about Hanukkah and will continue to use it in the future! Excellently written and will keep the attention of younger listeners. Good length too, not too long.

I bought this book for my niece who was curious about Hanukkah and it answered most of her questions. It is well illustrated and written. I enjoyed it myself.
