4.0 out of 5 stars Nice bar with a unique design
I was skeptical that this bar would be sturdy enough to support my 200lbs without a lot of flexing. I was pleasantly surprised. Assembly was quick and easy. I expect to get years of service out of this piece.

I purchased this pull-up bar after reading the many reviews. It was shipped very fast. But, from the very first pull-up, I knew it was not going to work for me.
First of all, it is way too short for my liking. I am only 5'9 and I had to hold my legs up so they wouldn't brush the floor when using it. Secondly, as a couple other reviews point out, the whole thing rocks around wildly while trying to do a set of pull-ups. I felt very spastic using this thing and I have been doing pull-ups for a long time.
I returned the bar via fedex, which cost me $25.00. I packed it in bubble wrap very well, and it didn't have a scratch on it, yet I was charged a $10.00 return fee by Trapeze Rigging, which they would not refund. I couldn't find any return policy posted on the website.
In the end, I wouldn't recommend this product.

If I had one wish it would be for the front and rear of the base to be connected. I pull the bar away from the wall when I want to use it and always have to realign it to get everything parallel. Two small connector pieces would solve this. I will eventually fabricate something for myself. Another alternative would be to put some kind of rubber foot on the bottom.

Second wish might be to offer an extension kit for taller people. I'm 6'4" and while it's certainly tall enough to use comfortably, I would prefer to have another foot of height.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Bar, though slightly unstable, March 17, 2010

I have been using this now for over a month. Initial installation was simple, intuitive, and quick.
Found is as mentioned in other reviews, simple functional design, great te get your upper body workout.

However since the two 'legs' do not have a connector bar, it gives an unstable sensation.
I tried swinging and playing with this and feel that as long as you are doing normal exercises the 'instability' is just a nagging feeling with minimal risk of tripping.

Overall quality is good and looks like it will last for a long time, am happy. However recently came across the "Stamina 1690 Power Tower" that is less than half the prices and seems decent. Do check that out before making a decision.

5.0 out of 5 stars All-in-one Stand Alone Pull up Bar, June 30, 2009

I have looked all over the internet for a pull up bar for my son. I recommended this system to him and he bought it for his own personal use. He is a bodybuilder presently working on P90X. He loves this pull up station. He assembled it in no time. It is very light weight and very, very strong. The welds on the pull up handles and the attaching horizontal bar could have been done a little more professionally, Overall, I would highly recommmend this system for quality, light weight, and durability. That's why I give it 5 stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wobbly, July 28, 2010

I ordered this bar and returned it -- it's wobbly. I am 6foot 2inches, 175 lbs; and can do 7-8 good form dead hang pull-ups. A pull-up bar -- let alone one that retails for $250 -- must be secure and safe. This one flunks that basic test; every time I did a pull-up, there was vibration/wobble throughout the pull-up motion. That is extremely disconcerting. Yes, the bar did not tip over, but so what -- it moved or vibrated continuously when I performed pull-ups on it. That is not acceptable for a $250 investment. If the manufacturer had included a horizontal bar, to be placed on the ground, attaching the two vertical supports that would probably stabilize the bar, fixing the problem. But they pinched pennies on that. Go with one of the very good door pull-up bars that retail for $30-$40, such as the Extreme Fitness models.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect Pull Up Bar, April 30, 2010
This review is from: All-in-one Stand Alone Pull up Bar (Misc.)
Like everyone else, I got this for P90X. The door frame pull up bars didn't fit my door and I'd have to lose 30 pounds to get to their max limit. I've seen that if you swing too much during the pull up the door frame models could slip.

$250 is a lot to spend on a pull up bar, but it was worth it. It's solid even on carpet and will hold my 280 lbs with no problem. I wanted something semi-portable so I could put it away easy and this definitely fits the bill. It's easy to take down and put back up. I'm not taking it down every day, but during clean up or company, it's quick and easy.

I wish it was easier to move when it's put together, but for a few feet, I can deal with it.

The packaging was solid, the box looked like it was dropped on the dock a few times, but every piece was bubble wrapped extremely well and arrived without a scratch. I'm not an expert welder, but the welds on this look clean and solid.

It's almost perfect because I too wish it went higher. It's higher than the door frame, but I'm 6'3" and it would be great to get it higher.

I got the carry bag, not to carry it around, but to store it. It's thick and well done. I was honestly a little shocked at how well this thing works and is put together, the picture doesn't do it justice.

It's a lot more then the $20 door jam pull up bars, but it's worth it if you don't have the perfect door frames or want to risk marking the door frame or walls. And you've really got to swing on this to make it unstable. This seems more than safe and solid.

3.0 out of 5 stars wobbly but nice, July 7, 2010

The item was super simple to put together and I like how little space it takes. However, it's a very wobbly design and I have to put sandbags or weights over the feet to keep it from wobbling. Otherwise it's a strong design. A little pricey for the quality.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your $$$, March 4, 2010

This product is poorly constructed (looks like it was welded by a 6 year old) and is unstable at best. I thought this would be a decent addition to our exercise room, as it did not take up much space, and I wanted to find a stand alone unit to do the P90X workout. Every time you pull yourself up it seems like the whole thing is going to collapse. There are far better products on the market -- do yourself a favor and don't spend your $250 on this thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars This product really delivers as promised. Worth the money., October 31, 2009

Finally - a piece of exercise equipment that delivers what was promised!

High quality metal. Light (weight as described in listing) yet rigid & strong. No paint to chip off. Parts fit together smoothly. Stable.

Easy to assemble and to take apart and move. Easy to change configuration (low set up for reverse push-ups, dips etc. vs. high set-up for chin ups, etc.). Easy to adjust for each exercise. Has several different heights for each set-up.

The unit was delivered quickly and was packed such that it arrived in perfect condition.

If you have the space (need about 40"+ for width), this may be a better choice than any of the dedicated pull-up, chin-up, dip bars/stations out there. You can do a variety of exercises and a variety of grips (for example you can do narrow grip and wide grip pull ups). You can move the unit to different locations easily. You can disassemble it quickly and easily (two movements taking about 10 seconds)if you need to release the space it takes up.

While it may seem expensive, once I factor in the sheer quality of the unit (likely to last a lifetime) and its versatility, I feel I have made the most cost effective exercise equipment purchase of my life (I have had everything from expensive weight-cable machines, exercise bikes, treadmills, wall-mounted expensive chin-up bars, etc.)
