How come nobody has heard of Allfrumtha I?,

This is a phat album, no doubt. Mack 10 produced it, so it is always gonna be influenced by him, which in case of this album is to the best effect. And yes, it is better than Westside Connection! This is ganstarap at its truely best. Ofcourse, the I is for Inglewood, which we are constantly reminded of throughout. Allfrumtha I have something really hot going on here and I could not recommend this album no less - it is impressive throughout. Whereas the Westside Connection CD is not made up entirely of hits, this is (well, almost). The highlights are "Fill My Cup", which features a phat chorus; then, Allfrumtha I teams up with Mack 10 on "Get Yo Bang On" to produce a classic gangsta track, before "Caps" take you by storm, which personally, is my favorite; and "Guess Who" is sure to make a few people praise themselves for buying this fab album. The remaining songs are all oustanding aswell, amongst which "Unthinkable" and "Dopest On Tha Planet" (featuring Mack 10 and Ice Cube) are classic.

Just call them "Westside Connection Jr.",

It's been said that West Coast gangsta rap extends like a big family tree, and whether or not you agree, AllFrumTha I makes a good case for it. You could start back at gangsta rap forefathers N.W.A., who spawned the solo career of the legendary Ice Cube, who in turn formed West Coast supergroup Westside Connection, which gave rise to member Mack 10's solo career, who later put on his boys AllFrumTha I on his Hoo-Bangin' Records.
The Inglewood duo of Squeak Ru and Binky Mack sounds exactly like Westside Connection and isn't shy about it. Not only are they vocally identical to their WSCG brethren and exhibiting the same style, but the production also bears the same dark, snaky, mechanical, rumbling upbeat beats of the late-90s post g-funk sound prevalent in these years. Their lyrics concerned solely with hoo-bangin', bustin' caps, and reppin' the almighty W are derivative, as are their constant shouts of "WESTSIIIDE" and "WORLDWIDE" and skits labeled "Inserts." AllFrumTha I's 1998 self-titled debut is a solid listen with no weak spots, but not too much is memorable and the tracks all sound similar. Still, it does sound good, as the beats and rhymes both hit hard and succeed as trunk rattlers. Guests include their mentor Mack 10, fellow Westside Connection members Ice Cube and WC, and fellow Hoo-Bangin' rappers The Comrads, Mad CJ Mac, and Boo Kapone. The best song is "Caps," a street anthem with spooky instrumentals. Fans of Mack 10 will really enjoy "AllFrumTha I" and their slick, straightforward gangsta rap, but others may find it too familiar as not much stands out. In any event, it's an enjoyable listen if not an unforgettable one.
