FINALLY - A Saddle Designed for Men!, August 13, 2008
This review is from: Allay by Topeak Racing Sport 1.1 Bicycle Seat (Medium) (Sports)
I bought the Allay by Topeak Racing Sport 1.1 and let me just say it 'taint your average saddle! More on the 'taint later...
Ridden for 50 miles and just over two hours and I can't wait to spend a good 4-5 hours in this seat. I've ridden all the expensive and highly promoted saddles they sell in the bike shops. I've bought several cheap ones too. But nothing compares with this unique Allay/Topeak design.
My experiences with other saddles:
I've ridden the split seat "wing-flex" and standard design, thin, leather-wrapped blah-blah-blah - they ALL HURT! Yes I know all about getting custom-fitted bike components (from frame size to stem length to seat post height to saddle position). And yes I know all about sit-bone placement on the saddle. However, none of that matters when your `taint comes in constant contact with the nose of the saddle for an extended period of time - especially when your climbing for miles on end.
The `taint:
The part on a man's body between your "goods" and your "sphincter" - `taint your goods and `taint your sphincter - it's your `taint! The proper term is perineum and it's the part that gets killed on long rides.
Fortunately this saddle is designed with a man's physique in mind. Maybe I'm just too picky or stubborn - whatever - but I really don't enjoy going numb "down there" every time I go for a bike ride! Let's see, I can ride leather wrapped over hard plastic or I can ride on a cushion of air... hmmm I think I'll choose air!
Thanks Topeak!

Burning Sensation, July 3, 2009
This review is from: Allay by Topeak Racing Sport 1.1 Bicycle Seat (Medium) (Sports)
I gave it a try. Made many adjustments, used extra chamois cream, and yet I got more chafed, rubbing and burn (you know where). The air bladder is a nice design idea but poorly executed. The "pump" straps around the seat post but if you leave the air supply hose attached to the seat's air bladder, it just leaks all the air back out. The only way it would hold air is to pump it up and then quickly unscrew the hose from the bladder. I'm sending it back. The Selle Italia saddle on my other bike is much more comfortable for distance. Soft and cushy is NOT the best saddle.

Thought the seat would work out for me but it didnt, maybe its my bone structure but this seat was pretty uncomfortable. I adjusted it the air bladder, moved it back & forth on the rails and tried to angle it but it always felt like I was getting something shoved into my backside. Rode with it a couple times to try and make the adjustments but coulndt get it there.
