All you ever wanted to know about Allegan County, Michigan. This book includes historical maps from 1829 just before the first settlers arrived through the building of the Interstate Highway System. Railroads, both steam and electric, with a few horse-drawn also included, are covered in one section and bodies of water in another. Also a brief history of settlement, a county bibliography, an essay about fictional books set in the county, and a township by township gazetteer of all settlements that ever existed.

About the Author
Kit Lane is a former editor of the Saugatuck and Fennville newspapers in Allegan County, and the author of many books about Saugatuck, West Michigan and Michigan history. She occasionally teaches English for Montcalm Community College and recently won an award of excellence from the Historical Society of Michigan for a series that she has written for the Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society.
