5.0 out of 5 stars Very soothing!
A friend recommended The Best of Robert Gass which I understand is no longer available. I chose this CD as my alternative choice and have not been disappointed. 3.0 out of 5 stars Too repitious!
Bought this because I heard a short portion at my chiropractor's office and loved it. If you were into chanting, this might be what you want. I thought they would vary it a bit- not so.

A friend recommended The Best of Robert Gass which I understand is no longer available. I chose this CD as my alternative choice and have not been disappointed. We have consciously chosen to eliminate the usual morning television programs in favor of a more soothing approach to start our day. The effect on our entire family has been profound. Our 3 and 6 year old children wake up to the angelic voices lulling them out of bed, take time to stretch (instead of the old dash to see what they might be "missing" on the TV.) The repeated phrases are simple enough for children to sing along yet soothing to the adult ear as well. In the evenings when the house quiets down, it is wonderful music to reflect upon over a cup of chai. Light the candles and celebrate every simple, blessed moment. Forgive yourself for the things that didn't go so well and look forward to another chance to do it all again in the morning. Namaste'

5.0 out of 5 stars Moves you immediately into a deep, peaceful state., July 3, 2000
By A Customer
The music and voices combine in both the Alleluia and Kyrie to transport the mind and soul into peace. I find it to be a powerful helper. I first heard it in a retreat setting with Jack Kornfield and just had to know what it was - and bought it. This spring I shared it with some European friends just after we visited a Gregorian monestary and listened to the monks chant the liturgy. We were all moved to sing and feel. Then, recently, at a memorial service, a group of us were asked to sing the Alleluia a capella to commemorate a dear friend. Our spirits soured. It is beautiful music for many occasions and is one of my most favorite and cherished CD's. I am glad to have found it!

5.0 out of 5 stars An exhilarating experience for the soul., August 7, 1999
This album takes Alleluia to new heights, sing-chanting the word to Pachelbel's Canon in D. The experience begins with gentle harp accompaniment, and then voices join in, singing "Alleluia" for each part added in the Canon. As the Canon builds, so do the voices and the multiple choral parts. This creates a guided "wave" effect in experiencing the peace-bringing mantra "Alleluia". The entire Alleluia chant lasts almost half an hour, and tapers off in the end to the gentle harp accompaniment as the last Alleluia fades away. I have bought copies of this album for many friends!

The "Kyrie" section seems much heavier and more mechanical, but in the right frame of mind, could be a worshipful experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect harmony, July 11, 2002

The traditional Alleluia is married to the Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel, and it's a marriage made in heaven. Listening to this piece, you'd think it was what Pachelbel had in mind as he was writing his melody. Buy several copies. People you know have birthdays coming up...

5.0 out of 5 stars Prayer for beginners, March 12, 2000
By
jon crabtree (Spokane,Washington) - See all my reviews
This music soars, I have owned this CD since 1994 and listen to it almost daily. This music has the spirit of god all through it. With only two (songs)on this album, Robert Gass brings you to a deep space in prayer. First with 30 minutes of alleluia interwoven and blended only as angles can sing this chant will help you recall all that you can truly say "alleluia" to. The second cut on this album Kyrie, is very much a cry from the heart of all mankind, "Kyrie Elesion" from the latin "Christ have mercy". Surely we all can think of something that we could ask the creator to give us a little more mercy for. With 25 voices chanting to some kind of middle eastern tempo this chant rocks! Awesome work from Robert Gass!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good for meditation, July 7, 2011

Been searching for years for meditation music. This CD has only 2 pieces of music on it, but each one builds from simple to complex and back to simple again. Works perfectly for my meditation style.
