Awesome Product,

This review is from: Allen Company Buttstock Shell Holder and Pouch (Sports)
I purchased this product for my Mosin Nagant and I couldnt be happier. It fits perfectly on the stockand only took about 1 minute to attach. I do have a butt stock pad I ordered for my Mosin that adds about an inch to the length of the stock, so take that into consideration. However, I believe it would fit just fine without the extra length.
The bullet loops hold 5 rounds of 7.62X54r perfectly snug and I have no worries of the ammo slipping or falling out. As my wife said "It makes it look so Rambo!"...or whatever that means...but it does enhance the "cool" factor of the gun. Also, having another 5 shots close at hand is convenient. For hunting it would mean not having to lug around loose ammo somewhere on you. If you are one of those "tactical" nuts, then this would also benefit a sporterized Mosin. The pouch is big enough to hold the cleaning kit, extra ammo, licenses, smokes, or any other small items. I just tossed in around 15 rounds or so that were extra after filling the bullet loops. The zipper seems robust and does have a cord attached to it to make it easier to open/close. The one I was delivered was not all black. The straps and cheek rest are a black neoprene feeling material, and the pouch was a dark green color. I am quite fond of this suprise as I thought it would be all black. There is a strap that goes around the butt of the rifle, but it was not permanently attached so you can use it or not at your discretion. I found it fit quite snug on my Mosin without the strap, but put it on anyway. Though it isnt described as having a cheek rest, the neoprene like material that wraps around the stock is quite comfortable when the rifle is shouldered, and though I havent test fired the rifle yet, I could see it being very comfortable to shoot. For the price this is so far one of the best products I have ordered for my Mosin. I highly recommend it and will be purchasing more as I build my rifle collection.

Better than I expected!,

As my title line says, the Allen butt cuff/pouch is far better than I expected, especially for the price. The adjustable velcro straps are a bit frustrating to deal with to get the right lengths along the stock -- but once in place, the cuff is rock-solid. As another user mentioned, the loops are perfect for the .357 rounds for my Winchester Trapper. The pouch is a nice bonus -- I use it to house the PREVIOUS butt cuff that was on the carbine (a simple band-type with no rear butt strap), and it works perfectly for holding another 9 rounds in a row for quick access. Another feature that Allen doesn't even push is that the cuff is padded and provides a very comfortable cheek weld -- makes my carbine feel like a new (and better) gun. I liked the Allen cuff so much, I wound up ordering two more (for a Ruger 10/22 and Remington 597 magnum). Even without the use of the ammo loops for these rifles, the pouch makes it handy to hold a few magazines.

I love this thing. It fits (almost) perfectly on the stock of my Rossi .357 lever action. There's a bit of excess on the hook-and-loop (Velcro) straps, but it's secure nonetheless. The forward position is adjusted with a Velcro strip, but it's not as cheesy as it sounds.
I gambled that the loop height would fit .357 magnum rounds and I was right. The loop tension is just right, too. The rounds are secure but it's not a mission trying to extract them. There's padding on the opposite side, so it makes for a comfortable cheek weld. Also, I didn't realize that there's a pocket built in. It's just slightly more 'baggy' than I'd prefer, but it's not a big deal. It's large enough for at least two cans of Copenhagen but not a big bag o' Levi Garrett. I think I'll keep it empty for now. I just realized that instead of a metal zipper pull, there's just a bit of knotted nylon rope, just like the picture. So not only is this an incredible bargain, it's functional and quiet, too. Just the right combination. Overall, at this price this shell holder is a steal. I think I'm going to buy another one.
